The expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues on with the addition of Ms. Marvel to the mix as this Pakistani teenager gets her own mini-series on the Disney+ streaming service. As a close to lifelong comic book and television series geek, I cannot get enough of what they are releasing and don’t forget that the “Moon Knight” series will be airing in the coming weeks as well. The official trailer just dropped so I’ve embedded it below into this post with some basic premise, the casting that has been revealed so far and some promotional art. Take a look.

Opening Today: “Pixels” (2015)

Though I had stated that this is not generally the kind of movie broadcast that I do, having posted the First and Second trailer, I might as well showcase the film opening date as well. I enjoyed the trailers and felt it was a less serious take on “Independence Day” if I could draw a quick comparison. As an old school Colecovision and Atari 2600 dude I have to admit I was chuckling when I saw the clips. The movie “Pixels” opens up today in theaters almost everywhere. Check out the poster, premise and the cast below. I will return with some thoughts of my own afterward.

Poster - Pixels - 2015

The Plot:
In 1982, in the hopes of establishing peaceful communication with extraterrestrial life, NASA launches a time capsule into outer space containing images and footage of Earth life and culture. However, the aliens misinterpret enclosed video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war. They attack the Earth using the games as models for their various assaults including Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Centipede, Space Invaders, Arkanoid and Tetris. Their technology creates voxels that change form and are capable of turning any form of matter into more of itself. President Will Cooper calls upon his best friend since childhood, former video game professional Sam Brenner, who is now a home theater installer and had a previous relationship with Cooper’s wife. To combat the video game characters, Brenner decides to lead a team of retrogamers Eddie Plant and Ludlow Lamonsoff to defeat the aliens with technology similar to those used in games.

Sony Pictures Presents: “Pixels” Official Trailer 2

It was a couple of months ago when I shared the first trailer for Sony Pictures “Pixels” and while comedies aren’t something that I normally plan on posting here on PiercingMetal, it had that 1980’s video game nostalgia which won me over. If you missed that first trailer post, you can click HERE to see it and then move onto the next level for the second trailer. I’ve added something of a bonus for you as well with some promotional posters that were a hoot. Enjoy.

Now despite having posted movie items for a few years now over on my no longer in existence “PiercingMetal Musings Blog” (I merged that with the core website in a narrative found HERE), I am still getting used to serving up this kind of narrative on the PiercingMetal site. I’ve aimed at keeping to superhero, science fiction and monster movies but this one seemed to touch a little on each topic and be a comedy as well. Maybe some of our readers who are gamers will find this to their liking, so let’s see what Sony Pictures “Pixels” is all about care of their first trailer.
