Welcome to August my friends and wow what an exciting month this is going to be. Not only are we hitting the eighth month of the 2018 year, but it falls on “New Comic Book” Day and with some monumental launches and one-shots hitting the racks this month I am going to start with the stuff coming out care of Marvel Comics. As usual, the copy and any images come care of their resources while the editorial closing is from our side of the fence. Let’s get down to business since there is a lot to absorb and so much so that you might need to cut back on a coffee or three during the week and ask your boss if a little overtime is possible.

FANTASTIC FOUR #1 FACSIMILE: As a fresh era begins for Marvel’s First Family, revisit the original Fantastic Four #1 in this special commemorative edition! Stan Lee and Jack Kirby changed super hero storytelling forever when they introduced Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, and Susan and Johnny Storm. Together, the adventurous quartet blast off on an experimental rocket flight – only to be bombarded by life-altering cosmic rays! Reed becomes the elastic Mister Fantastic! Ben transforms into the rocky Thing! Sue turns into an Invisible Girl! And Johnny flames on as the Human Torch! They’ll use their incredible powers to help mankind – starting by fending off the menace of the Mole Man! Now, the book that started it all is re-presented in full – including its original ads – alongside suitably fantastic extras! It’s the next best thing to buying Fantastic Four #1 off the stands back in 1961!
Hello my friends, today is one of those wild occurrences because its not only the Passover and Easter holidays, but its also April Fools Day and we hope that this notice finds you well. So, without any further adieu, let’s get down to business. As always the larger copy and visuals come from the publicity side of the House Of Ideas but these bookend editorial notes are all us. Remember that many issues have variant covers and there are dozens of other concurrently running titles on the stands that we do not feature here.

The content features an all-star line-up of voice talent including Dove Cameron, Chloe Bennet, Tyler Posey, BooBoo Stewart, Kathreen Khavari, Milana Vayntrub, Cierra Ramirez, Kamil McFadden, Skai Jackson, Kim Raver, Ming-Na Wen, Steven Weber, and Dee Bradley Baker among others. Future stories and content are also being developed across Marvel’s digital and publishing platforms and will be announced at a later date.
“Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors” is a long-anticipated event, bringing together Marvel’s newest and beloved characters that have garnered major fan excitement over the last few years. Powered teens Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, Quake, Patriot, America Chavez, and Inferno join forces as an unlikely, but formidable crew of aspiring heroes. When a threat no one could have expected bears down on the Marvel Universe, this ragtag, untrained band of teens have no choice but to rise together and prove to the world that sometimes the difference between a “hero” and “misfit” is just in the name.
“Marvel characters are so relatable because they live in our world and face the same challenges we do. So I’m very excited that our Marvel Rising team of heroes is so inclusive, reflecting characters with different backgrounds, particularly a set of strong female leads that our young audience can connect with,” said Cort Lane, Marvel’s Senior Vice President of Animation & Family Entertainment.
