The Premise:
Since ancient times, the first and most powerful mutant, En Sabah Nur, also known as “Apocalypse”—immortal and invincible—has been worshipped as a god. But when Apocalypse awakens from a hibernation of thousands of years, he is disgusted to find out what the world has come to and decides to change it. He recruits four followers, Ororo Munroe / Storm (“Famine”), Warren Worthington III / Archangel (“Death”), Elizabeth Braddock / Psylocke (“Pestilence”) and Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto (“War”), to help him with this task of destroying humanity and building a better world, led by him, from the ruins. Now, Raven / Mystique and Charles Xavier lead a team of young X-Men to face Apocalypse and defeat him. (thanks Wiki)

Entertainment Weekly’s First Look @ “X-Men: Apocalypse”

I’ve been a casual reader of Entertainment Weekly for the last couple of years and love how they are often giving us a first glimpse at some of the superhero films that I have been speaking to in our “On Screen” postings. With that being said, the other day we saw a first look at the 2016 film “X-Men: Apocalypse” and I wanted to share that cover visual with you. Take a look.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Just in case you readers are not too up on who Apocalypse even is, well he is the big bad in the world of the X-Men and a whole lot more dangerous than Magneto ever could possibly be. He is from many thousands of years ago and in some sense is thought of to be the first mutant. In this film he is played by Oscar Isaac and the outfit looks alright I guess. I think I was expecting a bigger more threatening look like we got in the pages of “X-Factor” where he first appeared. That’s Michael Fassbender to his left aka Magneto and the girl is Olivia Munn who will be portraying Betsy Braddock or Psylocke. So glad she is finally appearing in these X-Men films since she is a character I liked. I expect this film will find a lot of young ladies doing cosplay of her come the 2016 NY Comic Con. It will be a nice change of pace over all the Harley Quinns out there. So what do you think my fine readers? Are you liking the way this looks at all? There is no trailer yet but I am sure that will come soon enough. We have a bit of time before this one is released and it looks like 2016 will be a great year for superhero films. On a side note I will try to keep stuff like this coming when they give us a first reveal if you don’t mind me doing so. Since its film related they will be relegated to the “On Screen” section of the website and keep company to the film trailers and release announcements. Until next time I bid you adieu.
