Machine Head Announce “Catharsis” World Tour For 2018

Since we’ve been doing some tour announcements for the late Fall and Winter, why not continue the process and get those events that will be launching in the new 2018 year. We recently received some news about the mighty Machine Head who will be doing a headlining tour for the “Catharsis” album so check it out below. I’ll close with some added editorial of course.

The Press Release:
MACHINE HEAD announce North American tour for upcoming album! San Francisco Bay Area metal titans MACHINE HEAD, have announced the first U.S. tour dates of their world tour in support of their upcoming album, Catharsis.

Vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn adds, “It’s been far too long since we’ve demolished venues in America, we have had an awesome and productive break writing our new album Catharsis, but now it’s time for MACHINE HEAD to go melt some faces! The reaction to our last “Evening With” tours in America were nothing short of incredible, so once again these dates will be “Evening With” and will see us performing 2 1/2 to 3 hours every night with no opening bands.

“We LOVED performing as an Evening With for you Head Cases, and you guys loved it as well, the freedom to do whatever the fuck we wanted for as long as we wanted every night was liberating. It’s not what everyone else is doing, and frankly, there are not a lot of bands who could even pull it off, but MACHINE HEAD CAN pull it off, and we are excited as fuck to do it again. We are carving our own path here, playing by our own rules, and as an artist, it’s the best feeling in the world!” No festivals period, no 45 minute slots, no supporting some stupid DJ, no parking lots in a rain storm, The Head will only be “Headlining”, so come on down and rage!!”

MACHINE HEAD recently wrapped up recording their 9th full-length album with Zack Ohren (FALLUJAH, ALL SHALL PERISH) at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, CA. An official release date has yet to be confirmed, but a Jan. 2018 release is expected. More details to follow shortly.

MACHINE HEAD wrapped up the touring cycle for their first Nuclear Blast Entertainment album Bloodstone & Diamonds in March 2016 with a whopping 283 concerts on 5 different continents around the world. Around 250 of those shows were performed as “An Evening With MACHINE HEAD” with no support bands and performances often lasting 2 1/2 to 3 hours in duration, much to their fans (called “Head Cases”) delight.

Three tours of the United States (with many dates sold out in advance), three tours of The U.K. / Europe, (including multiple dates in Russia and Greece), shows in Mexico and South America, a completely sold out run of 9 Australian / New Zealand shows, sold out dates in Japan, plus their first ever plays in Taiwan and Thailand, and all without any festival performances which the band publicly announced they would stop performing at in 2014.

Bloodstone & Diamonds debuted at #21 on the U.S. Billboard charts and has gone on to sell 285,000 copies worldwide.

MACHINE HEAD’s latest track “Is There Anybody Out There?” released as a stand-alone, digital-only, non-album release became their #2 most streamed song ever on Spotify with 9 million streams in less than a year, and cracked the Top 40 on the Active Rock chart in the United States. It marks the first time for any Nuclear Blast artist to enter what is widely considered to be the “official rock chart” for the United States, and is significant considering there was no physical track sent to retail. Their controversial video for opening track “Now We Die” is at over 2 million views and can be seen below:

PiercingMetal Thoughts: It’s been far too long since we’ve gotten to see the band Machine Head here at the Metal Command HQ and it’s not a matter of disinterest and instead more of a scheduling thing. With a city like NYC you cannot be everywhere so I am making down our own regional show at the PST so I can hopefully be a part of the mayhem. Times Square doesn’t know what its in for with this one. What about you readers? What do you think of this returning headlining tour? Will you participate? Tell me down in the comments section below.

Machine Head Cancels Upcoming US Tour For 2014

While I hate to be the bearer of bad news, I fear that I must do so again as I share with you the knowledge that Machine Head has canceled their upcoming 2014 US Tour. The run would have found them joined by Children of Bodom, Epica and Battlecross which would have been an “interesting” blend of Metal flavors for sure. The reason they are citing is based on their new album taking longer to complete. The bands statement follows the planned tour poster.

Machine Head Announces Headlining Tour For Fall 2014

I know that the fans of the pummeling force that is known as Machinehead will be losing their sh** as the news about the bands return to the headlining stage was announced today. The band will be embarking on a months’ worth of dates and bring along Children Of Bodom, Epica and Battlecross as a part of the package. Mark me down as both intrigued and slightly confused with the roster but we can talk about that after you see the poster below and read the official press copy which I have provided for your greater levels of awareness.

Tour - Machinehead - 2014
Press Release:
Bay Area Metal Titans, MACHINE HEAD, continue their live domination of North America with the announcement of their 21-show U.S. and Canadian trek in support of their debut studio album for Nuclear Blast Entertainment, due out this fall.

With a devastating line-up that features support from Finnish heavy metal powerhouse CHILDREN OF BODOM, Dutch symphonic metallers EPICA, and American melodic death/thrash openers BATTLECROSS, this epic trek launches on October 4th in Denver, Colorado and includes five Canadian cities before closing out in Hollywood, California on November 1st.

MACHINE HEAD frontman and guitarist Robb Flynn checks in about the touring line-up and the upcoming shows:

“MACHINE HEAD raised the bar with concert production for 2012 ‘s ‘Locust’ tour, and now we plan to raise the bar again with our biggest US show yet, and the strongest line-up out there for 2014, PERIOD! This is a MUST SEE event for any heavy metal fan in America! I am stoked that we were able to join up with our friends in CHILDREN OF BODOM, one of the premier power metal bands of our time, and our friends in BATTLECROSS, who we toured with on Mayhem last year, and are going to bring the old-school thrash vibe. EPICA’s symphonic metal will add a touch of much needed class to the drunken shenanigans that will surely take place on this raucous tour. Come out and be a part of history ladies and gentlemen!”

PiercingMetal’s “Best Of” 2007: Music, Video and Concerts

Well it’s that time of the year again and that means it’s time to share with you all what I felt were my very favorites from all of the stuff that was reviewed here on PiercingMetal for the musical year of 2007. I will keep this introduction short and instead let these highlights shine a little brighter. Here we go.

Logo - The Best Of

Best CD’s of 2007:

Let’s just consider this a sampling of some of the music that we found ourselves listening to on more than one occasion be it on the stereo loud enough to wake the neighbors or on our music players. We review hundreds of discs each year and this batch are among the best and most enjoyed by our editorial offices.

Epica “The Divine Conspiracy” (Nuclear Blast Records) – So the singer you have heard on some Kamelot stuff and her band have delivered their third release, a magnum opus that is meatier than beef stew when it comes to satisfying content.

Kamelot “Ghost Opera” (SPV Records) – If you wondered how the guys could top “The Black Halo”, then pick up a copy of this one.

After Forever “After Forever” (Nuclear Blast Records) – You’ve heard her in Ayreon stuff for years now the larger populace can enjoy

Daath “The Hinderers” (Roadrunner Records) – Crushing, thunderous, topical. Interesting lyrical premise as well.

Nightwish “Dark Passion Play” (Roadrunner Records) – Tarja who? The band is back and on fire with new singer Annette Olzon, “Bye Bye Beautiful” indeed, “Hello Beautiful” as well…..

Dream Theater “Systematic Chaos” (Roadrunner Records) – New DT was quite satisfying. I’ve been a fan for years and this album reminded me of why that is the case.

Opeth “The Roundhouse Tapes” – An Opeth live concert recording that finds them on tour supporting their newest album and yet making time to fit in their classics. Stunning.

Within Temptation “The Heart Of Everything” (Roadrunner Records) – a long awaited US debut from Dutch Gothic Metal superstars is loaded with catchy numbers and sure to make them more of a household name.

Machine Head @ Nokia Theatre Times Square (9/22/2007)

Machinehead had been winning people over with “The Blackening”, a smoldering new CD that delivered on all counts and as part of the “Black Tyranny” Tour would embark on a journey that paired them up with Arch Enemy. Throwdown and Sanctity were there in addition to us and should you want to learn more just click the logo below to see our item on the main PiercingMetal.com site.

Artist: Machine Head & Arch Enemy
Venue: Nokia Theatre (New York, NY)
Opener: Throwdown, Sanctity
Date: 9/22/2007
Label: Roadrunner Records

It was called “The Black Tyranny” Tour and it would find two powerhouses in today’s Metal world sharing a co-headlining bill. This blockbuster tour de force brought the ferocity of Arch Enemy and Machinehead together and both would be supported by Metal up and comers Sanctity and Hardcore stars Throwdown. The nomme de guerre of the tour would be a combination of each headlining bands newest album titles as Arch Enemy’s “Age Of Tyranny” was melded with Machine Head’s “The Blackening” to become one formidable phrase.
