The Details: According to my records, it’s been five years since the last time that I held a contest for a Nile show and when you consider how often they come around that is far too long for my liking. I once noted that the band Nile had been on a destructive Metal path since their inception in 1993 and over the last few years their impact and influence has visibly grown more than tenfold. The bands own Metal maturity continues to broaden with each consecutive release and they will be delivering plenty of classics along with their newest material from the “Vile Nilotic Rites” album which comes out only days before the gig. The tour is “A Vile Caustic Attack” and brings along the band Terrorizer and more and thanks to the fine folks at Live Nation, some of the PiercingMetal readership will be attending this concert for free at the Gramercy Theatre.
The Details: It’s been a little while since we’ve done a concert ticket giveaway contest here on the PiercingMetal website and with the legendary thrashers of Flotsam and Jetsam paying our Metal Metropolis a visit, I figured it was high time to throw one together. Over the years I’ve caught the band a couple of times and while having enjoyed a number of tunes would not consider myself the most ardent study of their work. It’s shows like these that help the interest grow and its awesome that they are still delivering the goods for the Metal Legions. The NYC show will feature a bevy of supporting acts (Dead By Wednesday, Magus Beast and The Hard Way) and thanks to the Marketing team at Live Nation, a few of our lucky readers will be seeing this show for free. The rules on how to participate are below.
When and Where: Wednesday, May 22nd at Gramercy Theatre (127 E 23rd St) 7PM Show
To Participate: I’m going to keep this an easy one for you and stick with our premise of telling me three things that you enjoy most about the band Flotsam and Jetsam and why you need to be at this show. Answers should have some meat on their bones and be better than “because they rule dude” – That stuff is a waste of time to me. Of course it’s important to follow some guidelines to make sure we are on the same page. Continue reading Win A Ticket For Flotsam & Jetsam @ Gramercy Theatre On 5/22/2019→
The Details: I’ve been a fan of The Sweet for as long as I can remember and yet despite this few decades of appreciation have never seen the band in concert. Unless I’ve misplaced an album, there are about a dozen in my music library and while this is the US version of the group (yes there are TWO “The Sweets” in 2018), this one features original bassist Steve Priest and our old friend from ZO2 Mr. Paulie Z. and a cadre of kickass musicians. Even more exciting is the fact that Tragedy, the all Heavy Metal tribute to The Bee Gees will be opening up – so what am I getting at here? Well, thanks to the mighty minds in the Marketing division, we are putting some of the PiercingMetal readers into this show for free. Check it out down below.
When and Where: Thursday, April 26th @ Gramercy Theatre (127 East 23rd Street, NYC)
To Participate: I usually ask for three things about the band or solo artist that is playing but I have a feeling that with The Sweet being a legendary act that has retained a cult level of status that many might not be 100% up on them. That said, I am asking that you hit YouTube, Spotify and Wikipedia to familiarize yourself just a little bit and then tell me three reasons why this show is of interest to you. I’ll be picking out the submissions that speak to me the most and will be letting them know directly. Before we continue here are some of the usual guidelines to keep the process straightforward. This contest will run until supplies run out or on the morning of the show. Whichever comes first. Continue reading Win A Ticket To See The Sweet @ Gramercy Theatre On 4/26/2018→
The Details: As a comic book reader growing up there were two series that I loved and they were “Marvel Team-Up” and “Marvel Two-In-One” and essentially these were tales that took two great characters and united them for a single purpose. I thought of this when it came to the upcoming tour that features the legendary Scorpions and the mighty Megadeth as they plan to hit the awesome Madison Square Garden this Saturday. I have been listening to these two bands for as long as I can remember and was getting very excited about bringing a story and images to your attention soon after. Then I learned that thanks to the fine folks in the Marketing division of the LiveNation team that will be putting in some truly lucky fans into the show on the house. I am stoked because I think this amounts to our biggest bands to have given away tickets to yet. Check out the details on how to participate.
When and Where: Saturday, September 16th @ Madison Square Garden (NYC)
To Participate: This is NOT an easy one at all but still runs on the same premise as our other contests. I am sticking to the three things about the band that makes your fist pump high into the air and raise the love of the Metal in your very soul but for this one I am assigning some homework. Please give me “3” things that you like most about the bands and I mean each of them so “6” total points. There shouldn’t be any newbies to the music of Scorpions and Megadeth that’s for sure. Perhaps there are albums that “spoke” to you or concert appearances that sent you to the music shop to snag some of the band members earlier works. Just give me three solid answers for each and how important it is to be at this show. I know I make you work but I work here too so whining about the process will not win out at all LOL. Make this good reading because the stuff remains on the website and can likely inspire new fans as well on how our freebies work. Writing “because they slay dude” is just too un-original and boring. I’ll be responding to the comments that I like most right below their answer. Kindly review some guidelines before entering your submission. Extra credit is welcome of course if you’d like to laud the greatness of the other performers as well. We don’t have a lot of tickets for this one. The Details: I don’t usually want to do two contests in a row and let alone for events that are in direct competition with each other but when the Powers That Be offer you some true coolness you learn to roll with the waves. Oddly enough, I had only first heard the name “DEAD CROSS” very recently and didn’t actually look into it at all. I assumed it was a brand new Black Metal band that I would get around to seeing on a package sometime soon. Imagine my surprise when I learned it was not only a new effort by the great Mike Patton of Faith No More but also a group that featured the drumming might of Dave Lombardo (that dude who was formerly in Slayer). The band will be playing two shows in our region with one at the now famous Gramercy Theatre and also the following day at The Warsaw which is the venue that this contest is for. Thought we’ve never been there before to cover a show this will effectively be our very first giveaway at this venue. It’s pretty exciting to say the least and thanks to the fine folks in the Marketing division, we are going to put a couple of lucky fans into the show on the house. That lets you have more money for merchandise which is never a bad thing. Check out the details on how to participate.
When and Where: Wednesday, September 13th @ The Warsaw (Brooklyn, NYC)
To Participate: I’ve decided to keep this an easy one and by saying that I mean I will be sticking to my usual formula of you readers giving me “3” things that you like most about the band if you have heard them already and if you are a newbie just give me “3” things that you are most interested in about their performance. Perhaps there are albums that “spoke” to you or concert appearances that sent you to the music shop to snag some of the band members earlier works. Just give me three solid answers and how important it is to be at this show. I know I make you work but I work here too so whining will not win out at all LOL. Make this good reading because the stuff remains on the website and can likely inspire new fans as well on how our freebies work. Writing “because they slay dude” is just too un-original and boring. I’ll be responding to the comments that I like most right below their answer. Kindly review some guidelines before entering your submission. We don’t have a lot of tickets for this one. Also there is no need to remind me that this is a brand new band. I am well aware of that so the interested should line out their hopes and interests in this project in some fashion.
