The Trailer Is Here: “Jurassic World” (2015)

Logo - Jurassic World

I loved the first “Jurassic Park” film along with the second go round and can admit that I even found a slight pleasure in the third film despite it being the weakest of the mix. When I think back to the first film, I have to chuckle about my hitting this one with my parents who seldom found interest in the same things as me when it came to actually going to the movies but I had convinced them it was a good enough book, had to have made a decent film and that it would be a fun family get together for us. Pop liked it more than Mom but I expected that. Earlier during the day I started seeing notations around the web that the fourth film in the franchise was practically in the can for the cinemas and that the first trailer was ready to be enjoyed so here we go.

Opening Today: “Godzilla” (5/16/2014)

Run for whatever shelter you can possibly find because the Big G has arrived and I am talking about none other than the mighty Godzilla, who’s new film, and a bit of a modern take on the mighty monster opens today. I will admit that I am super stoked for this one. Here’s the poster.

Brief Premise: Reinvisioning Toho’s iconic Godzilla, the new film pits the “world’s most famous monster” against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s “scientific arrogance”, threaten our very existence.” (thanks official Wiki entry)

It was cool to see “Breaking Bad”‘s own Bryan Cranston as a part of the wide cast and while this is interesting I am most focused on how they are bringing Godzilla into our world and of course the destruction of everything in his path. You know that is going to be happening but the only question is how soon. With “Pacific Rim” we got right into the action in the first five minutes so would “Godzilla” avoid the same and keep us hanging on. I plan on attending this film today at one of the early showings.

The Cast:
Aaron Taylor-Johnson as US Navy Lieutenant Ford Brody
Ken Watanabe as Dr. Ichiro Serizawa
Elizabeth Olsen as Elle Brody, Ford’s wife
Juliette Binoche as Sandra “Sandy” Brody
Sally Hawkins as Dr. Vivienne Graham
David Strathairn as US Navy Admiral Stenz
Bryan Cranston as Joseph “Joe” Brody, Ford’s father
Patrick Sabongui as Master Sergeant Marcus Waltz
Victor Rasuk as Major Tre Moralez
Richard T. Jones as “The Colonel”
Jared Keeso as Jump Master
Al Sapienza as Huddleston
Brian Markinson as Whalen
CJ Adams[14] as young Ford Brody
Carson Bolde as Sam Brody
Jake Cunanan, Warren Takeuchi and Yuki Morita were cast as Akio, his father and mother, respectively
Ken Yamamura, 1954 Godzilla film actor Akira Takarada, Garry Chalk, Christian Tessier, Anthony Konechny, Primo Allon and Jeric Ross were cast in unspecified roles.

Here are a number of Godzilla related items that fans might enjoy. I tried to span a wide gamut for your mediaphile appetite. There are some great trade editions and of course the classic films that brought me so much joy as a youth.
