As those who follow our Pop Culture focuses know, in addition to the comic book and film narratives, we just love the world of toys and collectibles and this is especially the case when a product crosses into the music world like with these recently revealed Hot Wheels Led Zeppelin collectible cars that come care of the fine folks at Mattel. Let’s take a look at the provided images down below.

Back in September 2018, Mastodon longtime manager Nick John lost his battle with pancreatic cancer and during his funeral the band paid a tribute to their friend by covering the Led Zeppelin classic “Stairway To Heaven”. The track was sung by the band’s drummer Brann Dailor and the recording of this happening made its way around the Internet before being professionally recorded and released for this years Record Store Day. Now having listened to their stunning version of the track which is called “Stairway To Nick John” in his honor, I just wanted to throw together some thoughts about their take on such a classic number during such a terrible time. Today is the fortieth anniversary of a milestone album among milestone albums as we raise a glass in honor of Led Zeppelin’s sixth record “Physical Graffiti”. Where were you on this day back in 1975? I was ten and can admit that Led Zep music was still pretty far away from my own focus and I was instead paying more attention to the never ending reruns of “Batman” and the much loved Monster Week or Science Fiction/Planet Of The Apes week on the 4:30 Movie. However with that being said when I was finally indulging into music I would get a healthy education from this particular Zep issue and their seminal “Led Zeppelin IV” as well. Historically speaking this has remained one of my personal favorites from the bands catalog based on just how many songs that I enjoy from it and still do. When it was being recorded, it seemed that Page, Plant, Jones and Bonham had too many songs for one single LP and that would lead to the release of this double vinyl that we have been worshipping as fans of music for so very long. The big night for music ended only a short while ago and since the Internet is going to blow up with postings and viewpoints about the winners, I wanted to quickly raise a glass of toast for the Rock and Metal acts that took home this prestigious award this year. Just in case you didn’t tune in for some reason, I have listed not only the categories that most interest our demographic, but also showed the other nominees along with the winner so you can see who they won out over. I even added some personal thoughts on a couple of the winning groups. Here we go, the 2014 Grammy Award winners for the Rock and Metal Categories are……(snare drum roll kindly if you can).
Best Metal Performance
‘T.N.T.,’ Anthrax ‘God Is Dead?,’ Black Sabbath (Winner)
‘The Enemy Inside,’ Dream Theater
‘In Due Time,’ Killswitch Engage
‘Room 24,’ Volbeat featuring King Diamond
Thoughts: Some complained about the new Sabbath album being too slow and foreboding while others lamented the lack of Bill Ward on the release but despite that I was rather happy to see these legends receive the award which to me is NOT only for the new album but for all their work at the Metal craft and starting off a genre that is a vibrant movement in music so many decades later. Cheers Gents. Continue reading Congratulations To Black Sabbath & Led Zeppelin On Their 2014 Grammy Awards!→
