This pairing will be one that is talked about for many months and while originally scheduled for The Gramercy Theatre it has been moved to Santo’s Party House. All previously purchased tickets will be honored at this show and support will come from Winter Nights.

Kataklysm’s Tour Will “Kill The Elite” in 2014
The Metal Legions were supposed to get a solid dose of Kataklysm during the planned tour with Sepultura last year but with that event being cancelled altogether it has been quite a bit of time since they made their way over to these parts. Luckily for us all they shall be returning and bringing along Aborted as their direct support. More information in the press release follows the poster below. I’ll chime in afterward for good measure
The Press Release:
Montreal based death metal powerhouse KATAKLYSM, will tour North America in support of their newly released album Waiting for the End to Come next April with Belgian gore-grinders ABORTED! “It’s been a little while since we hit the road in North America with KATAKLYSM,” commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono. “We were bummed out when our tour with SEPULTURA was cancelled, so we decided to do what our fans have been asking us for and do a headlining run. This is guaranteed to be a good time with our friends in ABORTED and will also be a two part tour; we plan on returning in the Fall again to all the cities we are missing on this first part. Judging by our recent shows, the new material has been going over amazingly well live! We look forward to seeing you guys in April!!!”

Alas, The Sepultura Tour Has Been Cancelled
As you read this I am sitting at my favorite Metal show launch spot Duke’s and thanks to their speedy free WiFi, I have just learned from the bands Facebook page that it is indeed the case and that Brazilian Metal legends Sepultura have cancelled their upcoming US Tour. The bands statement is below the poster…
“Due to the delay in obtaining a visa for the band to enter the United States, we regret to inform all fans that the previously announced North American tour is being cancelled. We apologize to the fans, promoters, and the bands who were going to be part of the Tsunami Of Metal tour – UNEARTH, KATAKLYSM, SCAR THE MARTYR, ANCIIENTS, and DARK SERMON.”
I know a lot of the PiercingMetal fans were psyched about attending this show in NYC in a few weeks and were also hoping that we would run a contest for it as well so it sucks to find this being the case, but the Visa issue dilemma is something that we are used by now since its happened to numerous bands that we were excited about heading here. I’ll keep the calendar updated should any rescheduling that should occur. Stay tuned and for the interim readers can follow the latest news in these bands lives by following their Official Websites which are linked below for your examination.

The Summer Slaughter Tour was on its second go round with this 2008 run of shows and would set its sights on the Fillmore at Irving Plaza as its venue. The all day Metal affair was discussed at length on THIS LINK so do please check it out if you have not done so already. Here is the full photo gallery that was captured during the Kataklysm set.

I have to admit that when they announced that this year’s edition of Ozzfest was only going to be a single performance and that the show would be nowhere near my geographic location that I hardly felt the slightest amount of disappointment in my Metal heart. Yes, Metallica would be one of the event’s headliners but the larger part of the lineup assembled for it came off as a big ho hum to me and there were just too many other amazing tour packages to be excited about for me to worry about getting over to Ozzfest. The summer of 2008 launched with the first ever Paganfest USA and this event delivered four outstanding bands who had never been on our shores before and then we had Progressive Nation continuing the greatness with Dream Theater and Opeth. The lineup for the Summer Slaughter tour only stood to prove that we were going to get a righteous dose of head banging Metal for a really affordable price and the all day affair would take place inside the Fillmore NY. There would be a total of ten bands on this bill and while many are known to the larger fan bases across the world there were a number of up and coming acts that one should pay mind to. The headliner for the gig would be Black Dahlia Murder and immediate powerhouse support would be coming from Kataklysm, Vader and Cryptopsy. The earlier start-off acts would come by way of Whitechapel, Psycroptic, The Aborted, Despised Icon, The Faceless and Born Of Osiris. Ten bands are a lot to absorb and get the point across about so I chose to briefly lineout some of the performance highlights as I am sure that each of these talented groups will be on other bills where a longer set can be enjoyed. Here is what happened in case you missed out, and shame on you if you did.
