Though I’ve enjoyed shining the spotlight on the touring side of the musical fence, I should admit that I never anticipated doing them here on the website and felt it would only be an occasional thing that would be done when I had the “PiercingMetal Musings” blog. This side notion just hit me as I’ve now surpassed more than 1K of these kinds of posts and now its time to alert the masses about a super cool combination as The 69 Eyes will return to our shores with direct support from Mr. Scary himself, Wednesday 13. Take a look down below at the full press release and dates.

The Press Release:
The last time that goth rock legends THE 69 EYES toured the United States, was in 2009. As the band has been busy conducting business as usual, releasing albums and touring elsewhere, the US has been waiting a very long for the return of the Helsinki Vampires. After recently teaming up with DEVILDRIVER frontman Dez Fafara’s and his wife Anahstasia’s The Oracle Management, THE 69 EYES are ready to start a new chapter in their 30-year rock’n’roll saga.

”Before releasing the new album, we’re closing a chapter in our history, by returning to the homeland of ELVIS and THE RAMONES,” stated THE 69 EYES singer Jyrki 69. “We cannot wait to play in Memphis and New York and another 20 cities! It’s been way too long. Feels like we’re really back from the grave!”

Now that the Thanksgiving celebrating is out of the way, it’s time to start focusing on the Christmas holidays and what better way to do this than with a brand-new holiday single from the Helsinki Vampires in The 69 Eyes. Having been a fan of their Gothic Rock and Roll style for more than a decade now, I was glad to find this one hitting the streaming services and felt that it would be a fun way to lead us into the season. Though we haven’t had the band here in far too many years, the members of The 69 Eyes; Jyrki 69, Bazie, Timo-Timo, Jussi 69 and Archzie, all have a deep love of our teeming metropolis. Here’s a few thoughts on the Nuclear Blast Records released tune.

“Jet Fighter Plane” (Single) by The 69 Eyes

Artist: The 69 Eyes
Title: “Jet Fighter Plane”
Label: Nuclear Blast Records
Release Date:
1/15/2016
Genre: Gothic Rock
Rating: 4/5

April seems a long time away considering how fast our Facebook focused lives seem to move but that is when we get the 11th studio album by The 69 Eyes in “Universal Monsters” which comes care of Nuclear Blast Records. This has been the bands home since “X” and their “Best Of Helsinki Vampires” compilation release. Fortunately, we’re getting a taste of the new music with the single “Jet Fighter Plane” and here’s my thoughts about it.

As soon as the single begins it made me slide back to the bands middle years with albums such as “Blessed Be” and “Paris Kills” which are now 16 and 14-year-old releases if you can believe it. There is a creepy vibe to the tune that just took me back to that time and I didn’t mind since I really enjoyed those works and felt that this was the bands most vitally creative time. It has a smooth driving groove and solid drum pattern for sure and Jyrki’s voice is solemn and loaded with melancholy which is just how we like him to be. When I read the lyrics I was not sure whether or not Mr. 69 was making this a bit of a political statement against big weaponry and the power that it holds over our world these days and when you see the lines below you have to wonder.
