Artist: Osaka Popstar Title: “Christmas In The Loony Bin” (Single) Label: Misfits Records Release Date: 12/2/2016 Genre: Pop Punk Rating: 4/5
I’ve discussed Osaka Popstar on the website a couple of times over the years and on this Christmas Eve I wanted to scope out some thoughts on their brand new original seasonal song which is called “Christmas In The Looney Bin”. I was excited about the tune for a couple of reasons and the first was based on this featuring the new lineup of the group and the second because it would be a completely original number as opposed to a reworked version of a Christmas classic like we found them doing with “O HOLY NIGHT”. Artist: Osaka Popstar Title: “O Holy Night” (Single) Label: Misfits Records Release Date: 11/17/2014 Genre: Pop Punk/Holiday Rating: 4/5
I really enjoyed the Pop Punk style that Osaka Popstar brought to the table with their album “Osaka Popstar and The American Legends Of Punk” so I was both amused and quite curious when I learned that they would be doing a Christmas song like “O Holy Night” which is a Holiday perennial for sure. The last time I heard from the band they had offered up a single called “Super Hero” which was a fun and fast track but how would the Pop Punk furies bring about the holiday cheer? With a tinsel laden leather jacket most likely. Let’s chat about the tune. Continue reading “O Holy Night” (Single) by Osaka Popstar→
Artist: The Misfits Title: “Project 1950” (expanded) Label: Misfits Records Release Date: 10/17/2014 Genre: Horror Punk/Rock and Roll Rating: 4/5
Before I get started I should admit that I had not yet heard the original 2003 release of the very interesting “Project 1950” album by The Misfits until a couple of years ago, and that version is very hard to find on the shelves nowadays thanks to the larger absence in places to buy physical music. That being said I was happy to learn at their booth at the 2013 Comic Con that an expanded edition was in the works that would feature some expanded artwork and additional songs. The album was just recently released and now I finally get to talk about it for your own needs. For those who are unaware about this release let me first explain that it was a quirky idea by Only and Company that found them doing their own renditions of classic Rock and Roll tunes from the fifties with a truly Horror Punk vibe that only The Misfits can deliver. When I first learned about this I really liked the idea based on my enjoyment of the 2001 “Blow In The Wind” album by Me First and The Gimme Gimmes that featured some Punked up fifties tunes as well. This let me know right away that such a thing was possible and now with The Misfits take on tunes of this era, I knew that I was in for a sinister ride. Hello again my fellow comic book and convention fans and welcome back to another chapter in my 2013 NY Comic Con explorations. I’m closing in on the end of my Day Three adventuring and man has this been a productive day in terms of photography so far. This post is MOSTLY of the cosplayers but there are some vendors and personalities here as well. Let’s start with this kitten who has some claws to her cosplay and run down the next fifty images.
Well hello again my friends. I’m back with another 2013 NY Comic Con posting. I’ve been at the Day Three stuff for awhile now and that is because I took so many photographs and wanted to give each person their due. This particular posting is MOSTLY cosplayers and I don’t think I need to line out a Catwoman or Batman or Green Lantern but if its a Cosplayer that I know about I will be mentioning them and leaving you a link at the bottom of the posting. Here we go into the fray.
