The Trans-Siberian Orchestra Brings “The Christmas Attic” To 2014

Logo - Trans-Siberian Orchestra

We might be in the throes of a blazing summer at the moment but that is all the more reason to share the announcement about the Winters greatest concert experience which is none other than The Trans-Siberian Orchestra. For the past two year’s the orchestra has presented “The Lost Christmas Eve” to fans across the country and now it is time to debut “The Christmas Attic”. Fans of the group will recall that this is the title of their second album and it has never been presented in full even though we would find songs peppered into the set list during other shows. The tour banner is below for your enjoyment and then comes all of the dates on the run. Be sure to get a pencil and paper ready or just use your mobile device since no one seems to write anything down anymore. Here we go.

Win A Ticket To See Night Ranger @ B.B. King’s On 7/2/2014

Poster - Night Ranger at BB Kings - 2014

The Details: In my humble opinion, Night Ranger continues to be one of the best Hard Rock bands that are still out there rocking their longtime fans along with those who might have been late to the party. They are providers of legendary tunes such as the radio blockbuster “Sister Christian” but as any diehard will tell you, that is just the icing on the cake when it comes to this band. I have to say that “Midnight Madness” remains one of my very favorite albums to this day but the guys don’t stop there as they will be delivering classics along with new material from “High Road” their latest release. With the holiday weekend upon us, I cannot think of a better way to make the summer even hotter than by hitting their show at the legendary B.B.King Blues Club and grill and thanks to their marketing team, PiercingMetal is going to be putting some fans into the show for free. Read more below on how to participate.

New Year’s Music Resolutions for 2014: Chapter 6

new year's music resolutions

Welcome back. I apologize for the brief pause in the series but I did want to get the “Music Milestone” posting about “Defenders Of The Faith” live before too many days had passed and then we had some other things that were time sensitive in my Metal Presentation. So now we are back and hitting you with the sixth installment, I hope you enjoy it.

1. Joel Hoekstra (Night Ranger/Trans-Siberian Orchestra): For 2014, my New Years resolution is to cherish every moment onstage with Night Ranger, Rock of Ages and Trans-Siberian Orchestra and also give my all to a couple of fun recording side-projects I have going. It’s gonna be a GREAT year!

2. Kobra Paige (Kobra and The Lotus): Another new year is a wicked thing because not only does it mean more rip-roaring heavy metal memories, it means new music. This year is going to bring another musical evolution for Kobra and the Lotus and we can’t wait to share it! To all of our amazing supporters and new friends to come, we can’t wait to see you all out there. HORNZM/M

New Year’s Music Resolutions For 2013: Part 2

new year's music resolutions

Hey there readers and welcome back to the presentation of “New Year’s Music Resolutions for 2013”; I am really glad that you are joining us along for the series because it’s such a blast giving everyone a look inside the thoughts of these musical people. I’ll stop talking now and let you get right into it since there are many more chapters for me to share additional opinions with you. Have at it.

1. Joel Hoekstra (Night Ranger/Trans-Siberian Orchestra/Rock Of Ages): My 2013 New Year’s Music Resolution is to CONTINUE to work as hard as possible and appreciate every second of the best job on planet Earth!…and meeting Angus Young would be bad ass 🙂

2. Tim Roth (Into Eternity): My New Year’s Metal Resolution for 2013 would be, to continue my daily listening, of the latest Yngwie J. Malmsteen album entitled, “Spellbound”. I think we all could learn a lesson or two about the relentless drive, that Yngwie has towards pushing the envelope of Neo-Classical Metal. I vow also, to continue to teach my 4 year old son, Lucca Jacob Yngwie Roth, the ways of the Jedi Shred Legend that is and only could be, Yngwie J. Malmsteen! In addition, I would like to spend more time on PiercingMetal.com and I’d love to see my musical group, Into Eternity, head back to Europe AND release our long overdue 6th album.

3. Frankie Banali (Quiet Riot): 2013 marks the 30th anniversary of the release of “Metal Health” and I plan to continue to bring the music of QUIET RIOT to the fans and to keep the memory of Kevin DuBrow alive and well through the music that he and I never took for granted and have so much pride in. That is my singular New Year’s Music Resolution for 2013.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra @ Prudential Center (12/18/2010)

Artist: Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Venue: Prudential Center (New York, NY)
Opener: n/a
Date: 12/18/2010
Label: Lava Records

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year” as the familiar holiday song would sing and that meant that once again we would be indulging ourselves in the sounds and sights brought forth by incredible Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Before I headed out to the event I sat back and tried to gauge just how long I had been supporting the group and while I had been a fan since the beginning (even though I missed the very first tour), I had apparently spent most of my journalistic career with this enterprise. In terms of numbers, that meant I started writing these articles around 2003 and began doing them on the TSO shows as well. Since we were in 2010 now, I was soon going to be walking into my eighth Holiday season as a scribe and fan of this juggernaut of an act. The amount of years seeing these shows is truly making it harder and harder to offer up critique that stresses more than “you need to see it to believe it” but I will still give it a go to the best of my ability. The show interested me for a couple of other different reasons this time around and the first would be based on the choice of arena. For the last few years the show had taken place at the Izod Center over in the Meadowlands in East Rutherford NJ and for the NYC fans with no cars, this was always an adventurous trip to make. The group had moved there from Madison Square Garden which I will venture to guess was a cost effective decision since everything in the Big Apple seems to be going through the roof in terms of price. With the show now in Newark, NJ, the journey would be a decent PATH train ride for people like me and one that let its fans off with only a five minute walk to the arena. This was a no fuss no muss kind of trip in all honesty and one I would make again for bands if I had tickets.
