Good early morning to you my ready to binge-watch readers, if you are reading this post in the predawn hours then you are much more of a Marvel Television diehard than I am. I’ve been falling asleep before midnight lately but I digress because its from all the running around I’ve been doing. So here we are with the final season on Netflix for Marvel’s “Jessica Jones”. As you know, the streaming service cancelled all of the exciting series that it launched a few years ago with “Daredevil”, “Luke Cage”, Iron Fist”, “The Defenders” and “The Punisher”. I fell behind in my watching but did love them all with some being better than the others and if you missed the recently revealed trailer for this final season please click HERE. Let’s review the Official Poster, premise and casting once more before we go.

Well my friends, as I post this trailer I hear the strains of The Doors “The End” because we are now sharing the last trailer for the final of the Marvel Netflix series which as you know have all been cancelled by the network. I know it still seems hard to process because they were all so good but the last one to air is the third and final season of “Jessica Jones”. Let’s watch the trailer and then enjoy some more about the series while we can.

Netflix Cancels “Marvel’s Punisher” & “Marvel’s Jessica Jones” After Second/Third Seasons

The Scoop:
Over the last few months we’ve been keeping pace with the slow demise of the Marvel Television/Netflix collaborations and shared reports about the cancellations of “Marvel’s Iron Fist”, “Marvel’s Luke Cage” and “Marvel’s Daredevil” – When I added those narratives to our Pop Culture region, it was assumed that it was only a matter of time before both “The Punisher” and “Jessica Jones” would follow in cancellation. That moment has arrived with the following statement. Read on.

“Marvel’s ‘The Punisher’ will not return for a third season on Netflix,” Netflix said in a statement. “Showrunner Steve Lightfoot, the terrific crew, and exceptional cast including star Jon Bernthal, delivered an acclaimed and compelling series for fans, and we are proud to showcase their work on Netflix for years to come. In addition, in reviewing our Marvel programming, we have decided that the upcoming third season will also be the final season for Marvel’s ‘Jessica Jones.’ We are grateful to showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, star Krysten Ritter and the entire cast and crew, for three incredible seasons of this groundbreaking series, which was recognized by the Peabody Awards among many others. We are grateful to Marvel for five years of our fruitful partnership and thank the passionate fans who have followed these series from the beginning.”

PiercingMetal Thoughts: So I don’t think that I need to paint you any clearer a picture but in case you can’t figure this out, the Marvel and Netflix deal is done and there will be NO additional series coming to the network. Part of me wonders if these will move over to the upcoming Disney streaming service or remain here and what of the cast who played some of these characters perfectly. Will all of the main characters of Daredevil, Punisher, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones be recast? I guess it would be cheaper to start over if they even return in some format. Disney is not known for its mature audience stuff and there were moments in these shows that were nothing less than intense. As I write this I should admit that I didn’t watch my second season of “The Punisher” yet and “Jessica Jones” is still a few months away from even premiering so I don’t have to worry about that just yet. I will miss these series and what they were doing for the more grounded Marvel Cinematic Universe of characters but I will admit that they didn’t do as much inferring to their common existence as I would have liked them to.
