Toy Fair 2011 Begins Today!!!

and I am happy to report that I will be one of the approved members of the Internet Press in attendance for this surely amazing affair. You might have heard of it from news reports or industry postings online but not been all too sure about what it actually is and that makes total sense because this event is not open to the public at all. This industry centric function will bring together the toy manufacturers, buyers, retailers and their publicists along with approved members of the media and showcase the latest games, toys, figures and video games. This will be my very first time attending Toy Fair and I cannot contain my excitement about going and being able to report back to the world about what I saw. I’ll be hitting the show with our good friend Skeleton Pete Parrella.

You might be wondering how attending this event even applies to the stuff that we do on the main PiercingMetal website and in some sense there is no correlation at all. However when it comes to the sites blogging aspect and the type of reporting that I am bringing to the table over here it makes absolute sense. After all I’ve been hitting the comic conventions, discussing the illustrated medium and even doing the occasional product review since its inception so the chance to use all of this background and perhaps instill some interest in the up and coming toy and game releases with them among my global readership gives me a lightning bolt of positive energy for the task.

As I expect the coverage to be both in-depth and very comprehensive, I envision myself offering it up in numerous chapter segments much like I have done for the Comic Conventions. I hope you enjoy whatever we bring to your attention. Stay tuned and wish me luck.

Piercing Ken’s Coverage Of PDN Photoplus Expo (2010)

Before you get confused by my title of this post let me explain a little bit. Back in May, I decided to launch a second website which would be less focused on my Metal Music Adventuring and more aimed at sharing other photography and events that I attended and wanted to share with you. I am not one that lets his creative edge be directed by Facebook, so I came up with a name that I felt was clever in “PiercingKen.com” and I welcomed readers to it on my Social Networks with THIS POSTING (click that text by the way).

That being said I decided to use PiercingMetal’s Blog capacity to periodically showcase what I have going on over there on PiercingKen in a post on this side of my creative fence. One of the conventions that I just started to go to is the PDN Photo Expo and since I didn’t request “press” or other “media credentials” for it and essentially was a fan of photography and gear wandering the expo floor, it made more sense to feature any images and opinion on the other website. This signpost of a posting should be thought of as a traffic sign directing you down another path to see the story if you so wish. Thanks for your interest in PiercingMetal.com and hopefully in this new site PiercingKen.com – I love entertaining you.

Welcome back my fellow Comic Book fans, I am so glad that you could once again join us for the documenting of this years Comic Con. It is without question one of the most daunting things I had ever attended as a member of the media because I wanted to bring you into the Javits Center with my words and images and I think that I have managed to do so with the previous five chapters in the tale. Don’t worry, you can take a deep breath now, as this will be the final chapter about the Con and you can return to your day in peace when we are done. Let’s get this party started. To many people of the world, Sunday is the day of rest but there would be no such occurrence for me as this was the third and final day of the 2010 NY Comic Con and Anime Festival. The massive event started this past Friday and it was reported that something close to 80,000 people were in attendance yesterday which was Saturday. I guess that is why it was so tricky to navigate the aisles that day. With this being the final go round I was hopeful that while busy and well attended, that it would not be anywhere near as crushing as it was yesterday. Off we go.

The King Of Pop Lives On

As I wandered the Con on Day Three I caught sight of a video game being played by a number of fans. It allowed you to show off your own dance moves as if you were controlling the now deceased King Of Pop, Michael Jackson. I watched for a couple of minutes and found the graphics interesting and the game is loaded with his tunes. It’s for the Wii system which I do not have in my Metal HQ, but seems to be something many people will enjoy. Long live the King eh?

So here we are again with our extensive coverage of the happenings over at the Jacob Javits Center for the 5th Annual NY Comic Con & Anime Festival.  As we had previously mentioned in the posts related to the event, the three day affair was very simply too massive in scope to just present to you in one narrative so we broke it down into a few unique parts.  Welcome to chapter four, I thank you for returning and hope you are enjoying this stuff as much as we are.
