The Press Release:
Enslaved’s new studio album Utgard was recently released into the world, the concept of which explores the esoteric place in Norse mythology that celebrates the rebirth of the individual – a place where one goes for unification of that which is above and that which lies below. A reckoning of dark and light, of night and day.

The Press Release:
In 1994, extreme music changed forever when three pioneering Norwegian metal bands released their debut full-length albums – Mayhem’s De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, Emperor’s In the Nightside Eclipse, and Enslaved’s Vikingligr Veldi. All three monumental albums were recorded in the legendary Grieghallen Studios in Bergen.

On August 7, 2021, black metal is coming home. For the first time in history, these three acts will team up for a very special concert in the spectacular confines of Grieghallen, where these highly influential classics were born.

Enslaved To Headline Seventh Annual Decibel Magazine Tour

Hot on the heels of their release of the brand new album “M”, the mighty Enslaved has revealed that they will be the headliner of the 2018 “Decibel Magazine Tour”. Check out the press release down below and know for sure that I will return at the close. Indulge.

The Press Release:
Since its launch in 2012, the annual Decibel Magazine Tour’s ambitious curation has unified artists from around the extreme universe who would otherwise never have the opportunity to tour North America together. The lineup for the 2018 Decibel Magazine Tour continues that proud tradition, as Norwegian progressive metal legends Enslaved join forces with Pacific Northwest black metal heroes Wolves in the Throne Room, Danish post-black siren Myrkur and doomed rock ‘n’ crushers Khemmis (with regional openers in select markets to be announced next year).

“I have always wanted Enslaved to be part of the Decibel Tour concept,” says Enslaved guitarist and co-founder Ivar Bjørnson. “Not only is Decibel an institution, and defender of the last line of resistance for the printed metal mag in North America (for a band started in 1991, printed magazines are no small matter), but the Decibel Tour has also become an institution and an icon for metal that we admire here on the other side of the pond. So, to be asked to headline, and to perform with these other very fine artists, is a great honor and a great pleasure. Be there or be trapezoid!”

Of 2018’s four featured acts, three have released new LPs in late 2017 to coincide with the Decibel Tour: Enslaved, with their fourteenth full-length album, E; Wolves in the Throne Room, with sixth record Thrice Woven; and Myrkur, with sophomore release Mareridt. The former have already been honored with a pair of authoritative Hall of Fame features (on 1994’s landmark Frost and 2003 groundbreaker Below the Lights). Wolves in the Throne and Myrkur each graced Decibel’s cover in 2017, while in 2016, Khemmis took home Decibel’s Album of the Year honor for their Hunted release. Additionally, Enslaved, Myrkur and Khemmis have each recorded and released exclusive tracks via the Decibel Flexi Series, and the 2018 headliners will return with their second flexi contribution, which will appear in the annual Decibel Tour issue of the magazine that hits stands February 2018.

Enslaved To Release “Roadburn Live” 2XLP For Record Store Day 2017

Since “Record Store Day” is a pretty big deal for our friends who still champion the cause by having establishments where one can peruse and purchase physical music, I felt its super important to point out some items of interest to the Metal and Hard Rock fans that are reading our website. Truth be told, a very big number of my real life friends are vinyl collectors so this is geared directly at them. It’s for you too of course and that being said, here is the low down on a special edition live album that is going to be released on RSD by the band Enslaved. Read on.

The Press Release:
“Roadburn Live” is ENSLAVED’s first official live album, a split release between Roadburn Records and By Norse Music. The album was recorded during one of band’s headlining shows at the renowned Roadburn Festival 2015, an edition curated by ENSLAVED’s guitar player Ivar Bjørnson. Walter Hoeijmakers, Roadburn’s Artistic Director comments on the release: “It’s no secret that there’s a strong friendship between Roadburn and ENSLAVED. One of the most hard-hitting and progressive bands to come out of Norway, ENSLAVED has played a significant part in the festival’s history – both musically and antically. Not only has ENSLAVED been our artist in residence, bringing side-projects such as The Armageddon Concerto (the ENSLAVED/Shining collaboration), Dream Of An Opium Eater, and Trinacria to Roadburn, Ivar Bjørnson has also been our 2015 co-curator, along with Wardruna’s Einar Kvitrafn Selvik, resulting in Skuggsjá’s first ever performance outside of Norway. ENSLAVED’s 2015 performances were the pinnacle of this enduring and artistic friendship, and showcased the massive influence the band has had on both Roadburn and the (underground) metal scene for the past two decades. To have these shows captured on vinyl is a dream come true for me, and I truly hope it’s the same for anyone who was in attendance, or those who want to indulge themselves in the Northern magic of ENSLAVED.”
