It was just this past weekend that the PiercingMetal High Command was once again in attendance at the now expanded Anime NYC convention at the Javits Center. This is their eighth convention and I’ve been attending since the very beginning. While we are posting this notice a few days post convention, I have been uploading the photos taken with the mobile to our Official Instagram since Friday and I have miles to go based on how many I see when I scroll the gallery on my device. This year I decided to focus more on the cosplayers and some of the artists that I spoke to and yes there are even a few reels to enjoy when you visit the profile that is linked via the image down below. I’ve been going to this event since its debut in 2017 and the 2023 event would mark my sixth annual attendance as a part of the Geek Media. Generally speaking, I begin running the Instagram images straight away but the website and life got super busy around that time and it prevented me from serving up all of the awesome cosplayers and the other sights that I encountered along the way. Hey there my friends, its once again time to talk a little bit about some website social media and to share how happy I am when we hit a new plateau on it. Now over the years I’ve mentioned that PiercingMetal has been on the Instagram platform since 2012 and I have been posting on it with an almost daily routine. Yesterday, the PiercingMetalNYC profile published the 11,000th photo and based on how much of a backlog I have its very likely I will be back soon to talk about the 12K one. While I’ve been finishing up all of my New York Comic Con images that I got sidelined from completing based on life, I paused them to let the 11K photograph be something pretty awesome in its own right. Back in October of 2023, I got to enjoy an amazing concert by Yoshiki and after the show was one of his many guests at a small gathering. To make it even better, I was able to get a quick photograph with him and tell him just how much the show moved me right to his face. If you’re someone who is saying “Who is Yoshiki”, please head to YouTube and enjoy some of his amazing work and then come back to thank me later. Meeting such a musician and having a few moments of chat time just had to be the visual for the 11,000th Instagram and I think you’d agree with me on that.
According to the history books, the PiercingMetal High Command was going to be attending the famed New York Comic Con at the Javits Center for the thirteenth time and would once again be doing so as a member of the media. As a pretty close to lifelong fan of comic books and all things geek, I knew going in that I would have my hands full and be using a wide gamut of social media platforms to bring you readers into the action. One of the main places to focus in on the fun would be the Official Instagram and the plan would be for numerous photographs and Reels which is the platforms short video feed. The full editorial narratives will be assembled post-convention and across all of the work done I will be pushing the now three-year old Ken Pierce Media branding. My plan remains the same as in the previous year in terms of doing narratives, YouTube clips, these Instagram images and TikToks. Hello my friends and welcome to what I feel is a fun announcement. By now I think that most of you know just how much I love using the Official Instagram for the PiercingMetal website and when events like the New York Comic Con or Anime NYC happen, I tend to go overboard with the feed. It’s not my fault of course and just based on how much awesome that I get to see at these events. Now onto the main news. You might have seen this news already but I am so excited to be in attendance as one of the press at the returning New York International Toy Fair or just simply “Toy Fair” to their friends and colleagues. The massive trade show has been on pause since its 2020 event based on the pandemic and while there were attempts to do it earlier it just didn’t manifest. Since I will be in attendance for all four of the days I expect to see plenty of the exhibitors I’ve followed and hope to meet a few new ones as well. My plan is to share a lot of the finds with you here while I assemble larger coverage for the website and I will most certainly be doing videos this time around as well. Consider this a takeover of sorts but I don’t know how big of one I will do since the New York Comic Con is rapidly approaching after this. The return of a trade show like Toy Fair means its time to pull out all the stops in addition to Instagram there will be TikToks and other assorted social media and our like-minded geeks can keep pace with the website editorial pieces by clicking HERE.
