“Super Freaks” #1

Savage Dragon fans unite to produce one of the wildest comics ever created! In 2021, hosts of the Savage FINcast—a podcast that celebrates Savage Dragon and the work of creator and Image Comics co-founder, Erik Larsen—began planning a way to celebrate their ten-year anniversary. After brainstorming and gauging the interests of their friends, the hosts decided to attempt a self-published Savage Dragon Fanzine featuring the talents of their fellow Savage Dragon enthusiasts. With approval from Larsen himself, the hosts began work on the fanzine with the goal of producing something that could be awarded as a prize to their podcast listeners. The project—now titled Super Freaks—brought in the talents of twenty Savage Dragon super-fans, contributing four-to-five-page stories, one-page gag strips, pinups, and more.

King Spawn is projected to have even higher sales than the record-setting Spawn’s Universe #1.

“Spawn” #311 (Todd McFarlane Variant)

“Given the limited amount of minority characters in the comic industry today that are considered major Superheroes, I thought it appropriate for one of those well-known heroes (Spawn) to pay tribute to a man who made a lasting impact on helping shape such a strong superhero of color,” said McFarlane. “Chadwick Boseman is a person who honed his skills and then made a career using them. Then he fought a fight against his own body that showed the true spirit of this man. We should all admire the traits Chadwick shared with us. And the inspiration he gave to millions of children around the globe who got to see a strong, meaningful and proud hero that looked like themselves.”

Presenting The 2020 Eisner Awards Winners

Hello my friends and Happy Saturday to you all. As previously mentioned, the San Diego Comic Con went virtual this year and has been delivering a number of awesome things since this past Thursday under the banner “[email protected]” and much like the physical event has been keeping websites such as this one very busy. Despite the inability to host a real in person affair there are still comics to announce, film trailers to reveal and toys to showcase. One of the big events that happens annually during SDCC is the doling out of the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards and I am here to help share the winners of the awards that were announced last night. I’ve left the nominees in for good measure and I hope that some of your favorites won in the end. Let’s take a look.
