If you haven’t heard about the three sister sensation that is The Warning by now then you have some serious catching up to do because they’ve been delivering some solid Hard Rock and Roll for several years and after catching them in concert a few years ago I can honestly say that they are worth looking into. They are currently on their headlining run called the “Keep Me Fed” tour and for the regional date they would be doing two back to back performances at the Warsaw Concerts space at the tail end of Greenpoint. Now for those who have seen shows here before, you already know that this is a sizable room and for those that don’t, please know that this is a sizable room ;p

I’m always excited to visit this venue despite it being a bit of a transit haul for me because it was the neighborhood that my Grandmother came from and I remember walking around it with her quite a bit when I was very young. So The Warning was doing two nights for their “Keep Me Fed” tour and I was going to be doing my thing on the first night as I had a toy event locked in for the night after. When I arrived I noticed that the line went from the front of the venue to all the way down the block. To my knowledge the two shows were completely sold out and that is always a great thing to find happening for an artist when they come to New York City. Starting off the musical menu for the night would be a band that I was going to get my first glimpse of tonight, the band Holy Wars. I admit that I didn’t know all that much about them but I am always open to seeing new Rock and Metal and I had to say that they hit the stage like a thunderclap. There was no set list posted for me to peruse but wow did they pack a punch courtesy of lead singer Kat Leon. Guitarist Nick Perez showed some solid skills while the drummer and bassist kept their rhythm section locked in. I didn’t catch their names that night but will be making sure to keep them in mind when I see them listed as a part of any other upcoming show I will be a part of. This was a really good start to the night.

Slipknot are bigger than ever. Those who witnessed those early days could justifiably have thought the band would never last this long – most artists that debut with such a burning intensity and a complete disregard for the existing paradigm, cannot last. But Slipknot’s unapologetic ferocity spoke to an entire generation, and quicker than anyone outside the band expected, they were also speaking FOR that generation. Now generations in, Slipknot’s message, songs and art resonate even more powerfully. This is where it all began.
