Last month (give or take a couple of weeks), we lined out the nominations for the Harvey Awards, a prestigious honor in the comic book industry dedicated to the late great Harvey Kurtzman. I’ll add the information about this particular honor down below, but here are the recently announced winners. Let’s take a look.

The Press Release:
The Harvey Awardstoday revealed the nominees for their annual comics industry awardsin the following six categories, which will be voted on by professionals from August 14 to September 10, 2019. The winners will be announced on October 4 at the Harvey Awards gala.

Announcing The Inductees For The 2018 Harvey Awards

Back in August, we shared the reveal of the 2018 Harvey Awards nominees and now that the annual New York Comic Con is in play, the winners have been announced and you can learn who the inductees are down below in the official press copy. The Press Release:
The Harvey Awards tonight revealed its 2018 winners at a gala marking the 30th anniversary of the prestigious comic book awards show and a return to New York City. After revising the award categories and voting procedures this year, the categories that were honored tonight are Book of the Year, Digital Book of the Year, Best Children or Young Adult Book, Best Adaptation from a Comic Book/Graphic Novel, Best Manga and Best European Book. The Harvey Award winners for 2018 are:

Book of the Year: MONSTRESS by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda (Image)
Digital Book of the Year – BARRIER by Brian K. Vaughn, Marcos Martin and Muntsa Vicente (Panel Syndicate)
Best Children or Young Adult Book: Tie between THE PRINCE AND THE DRESSMAKER by Jen Wang (First Second) and THE TEA DRAGON SOCIETY, by Katie O’Neill (Oni Press)
Best Adaptation from a Comic Book/Graphic Novel: BLACK PANTHER (Walt Disney Pictures) – Directed by Ryan Coogler. Adapted from “Black Panther” (Marvel Comics)
Best Manga: MY LESBIAN EXPERIENCE WITH LONELINESS by Nagata Kabi (Seven Seas)

Announcing The Nominees For The 2018 Harvey Awards

The 2018 New York Comic Con will be here before you know it and this is one of the prestigious honors that is given out based on efforts in the medium and we proudly share the nominees for this years Harvey Awards with our readership.

The Press Release:
The Harvey Awards today revealed the nominees and new categories debuting at the 30th anniversary celebration of the awards. The new award categories include: Book of the Year, Digital Book of the Year, Best Children or Young Adult Book, Best Adaptation from a Comic Book/Graphic Novel, Best Manga and Best European Book. Voting is now open to eligible industry professionals.

“We are proud to announce the nominees for the new slate of Harvey Awards. By opening up the process to librarians, educators, retailers and more, we believe that we have an accurate representation of this year’s best graphic works,” said Nellie Kurtzman, co-chair of the Harvey Awards Steering Committee.
