Mapping Out Your 2018 “Free Comic Book Day”

As we are a few weeks away from the 2018 “Free Comic Book Day”, I wanted to take a few minutes of your time to talk up some of the issues that most interested me. Now I pretty much lean towards the superhero and science fiction titles if anything but as I glanced at the numerous free provisions that will be out there on that first Saturday in May, noticed some others that were a definite curiosity. I’ve snagged the images from the Official FCDB Website but if you want a deeper overview of what each title is about you should click over to them care of THIS LINK. My plan for this narrative is to group the issues into the “Must Have”, “Would Like To Have” and are “Somewhat Curious” about. Let’s go.

MUST HAVE: My must have list is always the longest but that is depending on how many of the titles focus on superheroes that I enjoy each month. Some of these issues didn’t have the final cover art available when I downloaded but the list below is pretty straight forward so I don’t need to add much more to the mix.

Opening: “Ghost In The Shell” in Theaters Everywhere (3/31/2017)

I’ve already lined out how this particular bit of Science Fiction had been lost on me. I don’t really follow a lot of Anime stuff but its more of a time thing than a lack of interest. Anyway, that said, the live-action feature film for the “Ghost In The Shell” opens up today in theatres across the country. Check out the official Theatrical Poster and refresh some premise and cast stuff as well.

The Premise: Cyborg counter-cyberterrorist field commander The Major (Scarlett Johansson) and her task force Section 9 thwart cyber criminals and hackers. Now, they must face a new enemy who will stop at nothing to sabotage Hanka Robotics’ artificial intelligence technology.

I’m surprised they didn’t number it since its clearly the second (or the third if I’ve missed one). Either way I thought you readers who are fascinated by this story would enjoy seeing it. Check it out.

Despite my love of the comic book medium I’ve never really dug into any of the Japanese Manga stuff which means I have limited background in one of their biggest offerings “Ghost In The Shell”. I’m hoping that I can examine a few trade paperbacks before the release of the sure to be exciting film starring Scarlett Johansson because the Official Trailer has just been released and is presented for you below. Check it out.
