Gene Simmons Band Announces Spring Tour Dates

The Announcement:
KISS bassist and vocalist Gene Simmons is headed out on the road next year with his eponymous solo band. The short run will include stops in Florida, Kentucky, New Jersey, and Texas. KISS played their final farewell show one year ago, making the Gene Simmons Band the only way to see “The Demon” perform now. Simmons is joined by guitarists Brent Woods and Zach Throne and drummer Brian Tichy.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’m not going to lie and say that I’m not excited to find Gene Simmons and his band doing North American tour dates and while this recent announcement only features five shows I have to believe that more will be added as they get closer to actually happening. Maybe these are dates that are testing the waters as far as demand for the tickets and from other venues on the booking agents list. When I posted about the European tour I mused how Gene’s shows would likely feature a wealth of KISS Classics and after checking Setlist.FM I’ve seen that a twelve song set features eight KISS tunes. I mean I’m not arguing because when Ace Frehley does his shows he is doing pretty much the same thing and he hasn’t been in KISS in quite some time. I’ll watch for more information on this topic and if more dates come I will either add them here or just post an updated bit of news. As we’re all about feeding you content the more is quite honestly the merrier in terms of posts. PiercingMetal Thoughts: As a pretty close to lifelong fan of the legendary, and now apparently retired KISS, I am stoked to find Gene embarking on a number of solo dates. One has to hope or actually expect that more national dates closer to home will be announced in the coming months. Knowing how Gene Simmons knows how to give the people what they want on the concert stage its probably safe to assume that his gigs will be almost entirely comprised of KISS classics along with the most popular numbers from his own solo efforts. I’m guessing this based on what I see posted from the most recent Ace Frehley shows where the musician delivered about 11 KISS numbers across a 15 song set. Either way I am game whenever he chooses to perform here and I am sure a lot of the KISS devotees out there in our readership can agree with me on this. That’s all I have since there wasn’t really any kind of press release and I copied the dates off of the Official KISS Website. Gene Simmons Announces Solo Tour Live Dates

I’m a couple of days behind in this one but based on the pending tour dates to come it’s not really an issue. That said it’s some pretty exciting stuff as the great Gene Simmons of KISS is continuing to deliver solo dates with a rock-solid band and hitting several venues near you over the course of a few months. Check out the Facebook Page news along with the dates below. I’ll return at the close to add some editorial notes to the matter.

The provocative and over-the-top showman is famous worldwide for his on and offstage antics as a member of KISS, where he became notorious for his fire-breathing, tongue-waggling performances as his rock alter ego The Demon, and sang lead vocals on hits like “Rock And Roll All Night”, “Calling Dr. Love”, “I Love It Loud”, and “A World Without Heroes”.
