Drummer Gas Lipstick Has Left HIM!!

According to my memory, I’ve been listening to the band HIM since sometime in early 2003 and have been fortunate enough to catch them in concert at least once per tour to our region since 2004. That being said I was greatly saddened to learn that drummer Gas Lipstick had decided to move on from the band after sitting in the drum chair for sixteen years. I’ve copied his official statement below this photo that I snapped at one of their shows back in 2010.

“With a heavy heart I’m announcing my departure from HIM, a magnificent band that I’ve been part of for the past 16 magical years. It has been a journey that I will remember for the rest of my life. There is no drama, bad blood or any negativity involved in my departure. I simply feel that it’s time for me to move on as a musician. I have noticed during the final stages of our last tour that my heart was not in it 100% anymore.

HIM Announces “Love Metal Archives” Tour

The other day the Finnish Hard Rock band announced their “Love Metal Archives Tour” and since they didn’t really offer up much than the tour dates I will list those and then chime in at the close. Here we go.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: This kind of news always brings a smile or should I say some “melancholy” to my person. I say that since HIM is so often singing about the sorrow inside romance but being completely honest I love this kind of announcement as HIM music was something very close to my own beginnings as a scribe. This band just “did it” for me with the first ever listen and I have tried to catch them on at least one of their regional visits when they come through our town. There were times when I would come to both shows but that isn’t always possible and sadly with this go round NYC is only getting one show at Webster Hall. It’s a big place so a lot of us can attend but like I said this bands fans like to go more than once. The band will be celebrating their early works with this tour and I think that is awesome and we shall be seeing expanded editions of these early CD’s on The End Records. I’ve linked some Amazon.com codes for you to pre-order them straight away. Of course if you should chance upon this post later on in time the links should still be valid. H.I.M.’s North American “Tears On Tour” Is Cancelled

Early in the day on Saturday I started seeing some tweets that the Friday evening performance by the Finnish Rockers HIM had been cancelled just before the band was going to take the stage based on the groups singer, the enigmatic Ville Vallo, having suffered a severe asthma attack and needing to be hospitalized. At the time there was no official word from their tour press so all hoped that this was merely a scare and the run of dates would get picked up for the Saturday appearance. From here I observed cancellations being listed on Ticketmaster while the bands Unofficial Street Team Twitter informed all that the full run of six dates had been cancelled. While this news started making the rounds on numerous other websites, the released details about what had happened have only just a moment ago come to light from their official press outlet. Now I could do my own post on this as I prefer to wait than speculate on anything and this is because as a writer I have been following and reporting on the band HIM since before there was even a PiercingMetal to begin with and you can see our views on them HERE. This will lead you to all coverage done about the band on the website.

Official Statement:
HIM’s North American tour (which was due to kick off in Los Angeles on May 3rd at the House Of Blues) has been cancelled due to unforeseen medical circumstances. HIM’s lead vocalist Ville Valo has been diagnosed with severe asthma with presumptive pneumonia. Tickets for all dates will be refunded at the point of purchase. HIM will be back later this summer as part of the Rock Allegiance tour.

We’re about a month away from the release of the eighth studio album by Finland’s HIM which is being released on Razor and Tie who they’ve returned to after a brief stint on The End Records. This is an exciting time for the bands fanbase since this is the first new music that we’ve gotten from them since the 2010 release “Screamworks: Love In Theory and Practice”. Sure, they delivered a comprehensive collection with “XX: Two Decades Of Love Metal” but there was only one new song on that and now it is again time to look forward into the band’s future. The debut single from the forthcoming is called “Into The Night”, let’s discuss.
