Brooklyn Horror Film Festival Announces Awards For 2021 Edition

The Brooklyn Horror Film Festival ended its 6th edition last Thursday with the sold-out closing night East Coast Premiere of Rob Jabbaz’s THE SADNESS at Nitehawk Cinema and announced today its jury and audience award winners. Launching on October 14th with the NY Premiere of MLUNGU WAM (GOOD MADAM), Brooklyn Horror is proud to have welcomed back an eager and excited audience who packed the cinemas after a one year pandemic related hiatus and hosted a majority of sold-out screenings, with special highlights being the festival’s 35mm projection of SESSION 9, presented for its 20th anniversary with lead actor and co-writer Stephen Gevedon in attendance, and the US Premiere of local filmmaker Edoardo Vitaletti’s debut THE LAST THING MARY SAW, with Rory Culkin and Vitaletti present for the Q&A.

Further highlights of the festival include the world premieres of Adam Randall’s Netflix Original vampire feature NIGHT TEETH and Alfonso Cortés-Cavanillas’ psychological social-media thriller EGO, which went on to win three awards including Best Feature. In addition to Rory Culkin, Stephen Gevedon, and Edoardo Vitaletti, Brooklyn Horror also welcomed composer Robert Pycior for the NY Premiere of WHAT JOSIAH SAW and the return of BHFF alumni filmmaker Perry Blackshear for the US premiere of his latest, WHEN I CONSUME YOU, alongside the film’s stars, Libby Ewing, Evan Dumouchel, and MacLeod Andrews, as well as numerous local short filmmakers and an extended intro from author Kate Robertson ahead of the special 20th-anniversary screening of TROUBLE EVERY DAY.

Returning to North Brooklyn October 14-21, 2021 with the NY Premieres of GOOD MADAM Opening Night, Lucile Hadžihalilović’s EARWIG as Centerpiece World Premiere of Netflix Original vampire action thriller NIGHT TEETH, featuring Megan Fox, and New York theatrical premiere of Gaspar Noé’s LUX AETERNA add to festival highlights

The Brooklyn Horror Film Festival will once again hold an in-person festival for their sixth edition, with screenings for the 2021 fest to take place in North Brooklyn at Nitehawk Cinema Williamsburg, Williamsburg Cinemas, and Stuart Cinema from October 14-21. With a line-up of 14 features and 6 short blocks, including premieres from around the world and our signature focus on New York-made horror and LGBTQ+ curation. In addition to the in-person film festival, Brooklyn Horror will once again collaborate with the Boston Underground Film Festival, North Bend Film Festival and Overlook Film Festival for the virtual-only event NIGHTSTREAM, taking place October 7-13, 2021, with program announcements to come shortly.

The Brooklyn SciFi Film Festival Announces Finalists & Program Slate

The Press Release:
The Brooklyn SciFi Film Festival (BSFFF) today announced 36 finalists for its 2021 festival. The finalists were chosen from 162 selections and will be considered for awards in seven different categories including Best Live Action Short, Best Animated Short, Best Comedy SciFi Short, Best Student Short and Best SciFi Feature.

The week-long virtual festival begins on September 20 and runs through September 26. All 162 selections, from 18 countries, will be available for viewing throughout the seven days and viewers can cast their vote for their favorites. A People’s Choice selection will be announced as part of an awards ceremony on September 25.

“The Chronicles” of Piercing Ken Are Heading To The Tribeca Film Festival

Hey there my dedicated readers. I wanted to use this communication space once again to share some awesome news that will be happening in the coming months for my lifestyle website, “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken”. This year that website will not only reach its 9th year but it continues to add major events to its coverage base. We’ve already added the New York International Auto Show, Progressive Boat Show, Summer Fancy Food Show and the New York Times Travel Show to our scope and just recently received word that we shall be walking around and seeing what is what at the Tribeca Film Festival. Since I’m going to one of the accredited media, its safe to say that this outlets reach continues to grow by leaps and bounds. This particular event isn’t actually “Metal” but there are some music documentaries being shown and I’m hoping to catch at least a couple of them. For those film buffs reading this announcement and finding it of interest for their own adventures I suggest clicking HERE to see any posts about the festival that I’ve put online.
