Marvel Comics First Issues Coming October 2017

October is here and while the seasons calendar tells us we are in the Fall, it hardly feels like it given the last few days of almost Summer weather. Don’t worry my friends I am sure that the cooler stuff and rain is heading our way. So the Marvel Legacy is underway and I am really excited to see the return of some of the characters that haven’t been around for a little while. Below you can find the first issues launching and a couple of special editions which we got from the Halls of Marvel along with the images. I’ll close out with some Editorial Geekiness at the end. Here we go.

FALCON #1: TAKE FLIGHT Part 1: Sam Wilson – winged warrior, avian Avenger and one-time sentinel of liberty – takes to the skies again, reborn and recommitted as the fighter for freedom, THE FALCON! Engaged in an all-new assignment while training his new partner THE PATRIOT, Sam Wilson soars high and sees all. But Sam’s new mission finds him on a collision course with an enemy way out of his weight class—the demonic BLACKHEART! Writer Rodney Barnes (THE BOONDOCKS) joins artist Joshua Cassara (SECRET EMPIRE: UNDERGROUND) to challenge Sam Wilson as never before! From the stratosphere to the streets, the Marvel Universe now has a high-flying hero circling above them ready to strike! PLUS: Includes 3 bonus MARVEL PRIMER PAGES! Story by Robbie Thompson and art by Mark Bagley!

Marvel Primer Pages add All-New Content to “MARVEL LEGACY”

In addition to all of the monthly Comic Book Solicitations posts we do here at PiercingMetal we like to also focus on some of the interesting news about things that are happening in our favorite titles. Take a look at the scoop about these Primer Pages that will be appearing in some issues of the Marvel Legacy titles. I’ve culled together the full press details and the provided images are at the bottom of the post for your consumption.

The Press Release:
Marvel Legacy is changing the way you read comics – and the future of the Marvel Universe. This fall, Marvel is proud to present MARVEL PRIMER PAGES!, three all-new pages of comic content written by Robbie Thompson (Silk, Doctor Strange and the Sorcerer Supreme) with a majority of art from acclaimed superstar Mark Bagley (The Amazing Spider-Man, All New X-Men, Ultimate Spider-Man). These stories will draw all readers into the Marvel Universe like never before. And at no extra cost to the reader, what better way to change the way readers jump into a series!

Featured in select Marvel Legacy issues, each story provides easy access into the world of each title character, as well as easy access into the Legacy stories. Designed to give brand new readers a hook into the series, MARVEL PRIMER PAGES will offer all fans a simple jumping on point for almost all of Marvel’s heroic and iconic characters.

“When I first approached Robbie and Mark to do these Primer stories, I gave them only one edict: to remind all readers both who these characters are and what they’re about in three all new pages,” said Marvel editor Darren Shan. “What we got back has been some of the most fun art I’ve ever seen from Mark! And we couldn’t be luckier to have someone like Robbie to cherry pick the most classic moments in Marvel history. Then the two of them tie this all up into one perfect package. I think everyone will love these!”

Opening: “Captain America: Civil War” (5/6/2016)

It’s time to get excited about the superhero film stuff once again because Phase 3 of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe begins here with the opening of “Captain America: Civil War”. After the massive amount of mixed opinion that DC’s Extended Universe found with “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice” I can honestly say that I am so looking forward to this live-action adventure. Check out the official poster and the premise along with the main cast and then I will return with some thoughts.

The Premise:
One year after the events of “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, another international incident involving the Avengers resulting in collateral damage occurs, prompting politicians to form a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to call in the team. When Steve Rogers attempts to protect his friend Bucky Barnes from this act, he is brought into conflict with Tony Stark. This results in the fracturing of the Avengers into two opposing factions—one led by Rogers, who wishes to operate without regulation, and the other by Stark, who supports government oversight—while the world is threatened by a new enemy. PiercingMetal Thoughts: SCREAMS!!!!!!! That’s all I have for this. So great to have the Web-Spinner in the proper Marvel Cinematic Universe at long last. I know you are excited as well, especially after that last Spider-Man film that Sony gave us. Let’s cross our fingers for the most positive of growth of this now very encompassing Marvel Universe. Full steam ahead. May cannot get here soon enough for me.
