The Details: The 3 piece band Unlocking The Truth might be a mystery to you if you are one of those fans that comes alive at the midnight hour and that is likely because its already passed these guys bedtime. Yep, I did say bedtime because the three musicians that make up Unlocking The Truth are between thirteen and fourteen years old but that does not stop them from rocking. The guys slid into the public eye by just setting up their gear in front of subway entrances, in parks and on streets around their neighborhood and crunched and rocked until told that they could not do that here. Don’t let their age fool you because these guys know how to Rock and they love the Metal so that is never a bad thing. The Details: Truth be told I never followed Hawkwind during their original heyday based on my overall vintage but as I grew older surely learned to appreciate their offerings and several musicians of note that they helped launched the careers of. I was interested in seeing the current version of Hawkwind that was supposed to visit last year but was cancelled due to artist illness but when I learned about the appearance of their former member Nik Turner who would be delivering a set of their tunes at The Studio, I said to myself “Let’s attend this and even go one better by setting up a contest for tickets for his fans”. The Details: Have you heard about Kobra and The Lotus yet? Man do I hope so because I am super impressed by the delivery of this incredible Metal Queen and have been fortunate enough to catch them twice in concert over the past year. As a front person, singer Kobra Paige puts out a presence that brings you into the set while the band thunders like a raging storm behind her. Currently the band is opening up for the mighty KISS who are on tour with a co-headlining Def Leppard, but they will be doing a show at The Studio at Webster Hall during one of the off nights on this tour. They’ll be dishing out the scorching tracks from their just released “High Priestess” album. The Details: While America has its own Big Four for Thrash Metal, when it comes to the offerings from the German side there are only three titans of Thrash and one of the biggest providers of the craft is very clearly the mighty Destruction. As a matter of fact, the press often lauds them as “One Of The Three Kings of Teutonic Thrash Metal” and this is rightly so because for thirty years now the band has been decimating their fans with intense tunes. Fronted by the mighty Schmier, the band returns to the states after a couple of years with support from Krisiun and Widow.
