PiercingMetal Goes To New York Comic Con 2011: Day 1; Part 1

It was that time of the year again. The Fall weather had just essentially started to make itself known over here on the East Coast and as October worked towards its middle, the Sixth Annual NY Comic Con would take over the massive Jacob Javits Center for the next four days. Four days you say? Yes, you are reading that correctly because this time around the event would move its Press and Professionals only access to a day before the masses arrive and also open it up to those lucky enough to purchase one of the limited edition four day passes. As expected I would be braving this mega-event as a member of the press but this time I would be joined by our good friend and comrade in arms Peter Parrella, who many know by the name Skeleton Pete. As I would be attending all four days of the Con, I would be taking a lot of photos and hence giving you a lot more to digest. Last year’s coverage was served up in several different portions per day and I will strive to do that again. On your mark, get set……..GO!!!!!

PiercingMetal Goes to Big Apple Comic Con (2011): Chapter One

Having attended the NY Comic Con back in October of last year, an adventure that can referenced HERE, made me curious about what I would find at the Wizardworld Big Apple Comic Con when it would come through town during this Metal Month of May. These conventions are usually filled with musicians and entertainers along with the stellar talent that is doing the mainstream as well as independent comic books. The past two weeks have been stocked with musical adventures as bands like Destruction, UFO and Whitesnake all had visited our fair city. Last night was Blackfield with Anathema and tonight would be Apocalyptica if the world didn’t end like the crazy people were saying it would. Only time would tell, so join me on this potentially last report from the realm.

Oh hey you’re back. That’s terrific because I still have another chapter to show you from the 2010 NY Comic Con and Anime Festival that was being held over at the Javits Center. I’m still on my Day One visuals but this is the final chapter of that day’s fun so without any further adieu lets get started. Here’s a shot of a Cosplayer dressed as Rogue from the X-Men.

Along with a massive display of hero statues and some graphic novels.

This was so far the biggest collection of super-hero statues that I had seen so I snapped a visual for you.

So here we are again with what I am calling “Part Two” of the Day One coverage of NY Comic Con & Anime Festival 2010.  My reason for the sub-dividing of it all was based on my seeing so much and wanting to share it all with you.  If you have never attended a Comic Con like this you will really thank me for it later.  To say that I was “camera happy” would be an understatement but again there was a lot to absorb.  Let’s get down to it. Here’s a living dead girl supporting the “It Sucks To Be Dead” title.

Next up is our friend Steve Bunche, Media Ronin and Comics Expert Emeritus. I’ve known Steve a long time and ran into him again after many years on the train to work. He’s tossed some of his views into the fires of PiercingMetal content as well. Right now he was catching a break and watching the Connor/Palmiotti tables in Artists Alley.

Now let’s get back to some of the artists tables. Here is Victor Ochoa and his books “Toxicity” and “Beloved”.
