This Just In: King’s X European Tour Cancelled Due to Family Emergency

The Press Release:
It is with deepest apologies, that KING’S X must announce that the band will be cancelling their upcoming European Tour, including their appearance at the Veruno Prog Rock Festival in Italy, due to a family emergency.

Says KING’S X, “We are truly heartbroken that we will not be able to see all of our European fans, as we have been clamoring for these dates since we announced them. We would like to let the fans and all those concerned that the band is okay. Please respect the band’s privacy and please give us some time. We are doing everything in our power to reschedule the tour for 2020.”

More news to come on rescheduled dates. Tickets will remain valid for the new dates or refunds can be obtained from the point of sale.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’ve been a fan of the band for many years and I know that a lot of our readers are as well so let’s keep the good energy flowing in their direction to help them during this obviously critical time. I will add more on this as we learn more but at the time of this news update we don’t have any idea as to what is going on and we shall be respectful of the bands private lives. “Happy Halloween” 2018: Rockers Divulge Their Favorite Horror Films

Last year, I had asked what the very favorite Horror films might be among a wide assortment of the musicians that I had met over the last few years while covering shows and special events. The fun disclosures can be reviewed HERE for those who are new to our offerings and might have missed that when it first ran. Yesterday, I decided to do it again with some of the people that I didn’t get around to that last time and while there are only a few, its still fun to find out what spooks some of our talented friends. Let’s get down to business in finding out what some of Hard Rock and Metal’s best and brightest find to be their favorite and scariest films and what makes this be the case. Margarita Monet (Edge Of Paradise): What i love about Horror films is that they are so much fun to watch with with friends, I wouldn’t watch them alone, it’s way more fun to be terrified together. I love the classics like the “A Nightmare On Elm Street”. But for my favorite, I would have to go with “The Ring”, and not just because the movie was so great, it had all the right bone chilling elements, but watching it with my friends in middle school and acting out as the creepy girl coming out of the TV for weeks later, just brings really fun memories about those days, and maybe we’ll give “The Ring 2” a chance.

“Metal Mike” Chlasiak (Halford, Sebastian Bach, Solo): I liked “Hellraiser” because the main character (Pinhead) looked like the evil brother of The Metal God.

As we recover from the crowd-crushing madness that is the NY Comic Con, I’m making my way through press releases and wanted to share this update about the legendary rockers in Kings X. Check it out.

Australia’s leading international independent record label, Golden Robot Records, continues to grow at an unprecedented pace. The label is absolutely thrilled to announce that globally revered, Billboard-charting rock icons KING’S X are now part of their ever-growing international roster. KING’S X recently signed a global deal with Golden Robot Records which will see their long-awaited forthcoming new album released worldwide in 2019 via Golden Robot Records’ partners in the U.S., Europe and Japan.

“I’m really excited to release the next KING’S X album with Mark, Derek and the crew at Golden Robot! May the groove be with us all,” says vocalist/bassist dUg Pinnick. Guitarist Ty Tabor adds, “I’m looking forward to working with Golden Robot Records!”

Drummer Jerry Gaskill adds, “It’s been a while since we’ve made a record. During that time, I’ve been thinking, when and if we make a new record, I want it to be the best we can do. I want to believe in it. I want to make it great, whatever it takes. I don’t want to just make another KING’S X record. I think and hope that we are in that place. I think and hope its time and I feel good about the team we’ll be working with at Golden Robot Records. I’m going do my best. Let’s do this thing.”

The Details: For those who have followed my Contests area on PiercingMetal some of the text in this might sound a little bit repetitive and I will be straight with you and say that it’s almost a word for word redo with a light modification. The guys in King’s X are road warriors and one of the best sounding bands that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing in concert. It’s a fact that they’ve never disappointed their fans yet in terms of great gigs and solid recordings. Those of you who have similar experiences are likely nodding your heads along to the statement and yet despite this there are far too many people that have not a single idea about what this band holds in their musical grasp. 2018 finds them still pushing forward with the musical charge and on the cusp of their fortieth anniversary as a band. That said, I am once again super excited to say that thanks to the folks from CEG Presents, some lucky PiercingMetal fans will be hitting the show for free when they perform at Sony Hall. This will mark my fifth contest for the band and brings the PiercingMetal outlet a little bit closer to our 1700th ticket. Isn’t that cool? We like to think so. The rules on how to participate are below.

Toasting 30 Years Of King’s X “Out Of The Silent Planet” (1988-2018)

Greetings friends it’s time to once again scroll back through the sands of time and pull out another classic album and celebrate its anniversary. Today we are raising a glass of whatever you like to drink the most and saying “Congratulations” to the band King’s X on the thirtieth anniversary of their debut album “Out Of The Silent Planet”. The album was released on this day thirty years ago on the Megaforce Records label and while it is a solid piece of musical work, there were far too many of us who missed out on it until much later. I say it like this because in 1988, the Hard Rock and Metal scene was getting ready for a dramatic almost seismic shift as the Grunge Movement from the Seattle side of the fence was getting ready to take a full hold of the music buying public. Back then I was listening to the reasonably new sound of Power Metal with bands like Helloween and the like and while I would catch King’s X on video playing networks such as MTV and their “Headbanger’s Ball” the bands sound eluded me. Sure, I liked a few tracks and the clips that accompanied them but was I dedicating myself to the body of work. No I wasn’t and it would take a few more albums for me to consider myself an acolyte of some kind.

That being said, many of my friends who found what I was listening to as “too much mayhem” for their liking, they became devoted followers of what King’s X was bringing to the musical table and would see them whenever they came to town. It would be many years later that I finally would catch them and one of the first things that I remembered about them that impressed me was that it was still the original three members of Dug Pinnick (bass and vocals), Ty Tabor (guitar and vocals) and Jerry Gaskill (drums and vocals). There are not many bands out there anywhere who can claim that the original founding lineup is still 100% in place. The second and probably the most important thing that I would notice when I would catch them was just how good they sounded and how close it was to the recordings that I had heard over the years.
