The Press Release:
Sumerian Comics announced today ONE OF US IS THE KILLER, a brand new graphic novel inspired by the 2013 fifth studio album from mathcore band, The Dillinger Escape Plan and from Rock & Roll Hell creators, Sam Romesburg and Ben Roberts, visionary artist Greg Di Angilla (Rock & Roll Hell), and colorist Warnia Sahadewa (Doctor Who).
“One Of Us Is The Killer”
Speaking on todays’ announcement, Dillinger Escape Plan founder and guitarist, Ben Weinman shares
“The ‘One of Us Is the Killer’ collaboration with Sumerian Records remains one of The D.E.P’s most artistically ambitious achievements to this day. Seeing Ash Avildsen and the creative team at the newly founded Sumerian Comics, use this album as the influence for another equally ambitious artistic endeavor is amazing. I can’t wait to hold one of these things in my hands, just like I did with the many comic books I enjoyed as a kid.” Continue reading Sumerian Comics and Dillinger Escape Plan Team-Up For Graphic Novel→
This third show by the DEP actually happens before the other ones but this is it my friends. Don’t miss any of your last chances to see the band before they close the book on their storied insanity.
Based on the overwhelming response, the DEP has added a second show which will take place on the day BEFORE their final show ever. Obviously the last show sold out rather quick but you can get one more chance to see them on the day before if you are interested.
This is it my friends, the end is no longer nie and is in fact here. This is the final DEP show ever as the band closes the book on their brand of musical chaos with this appearance at T5. While its not the end of 2017 just yet, it sure is going to be hard to top this happening IMHO. Hope you snagged a ticket nice and fast since this one is going to sell out faster than you can blink an eye.
If you’ve been following our reports closely, you probably remember that it was only about a week ago that I shared the news and the poster for the Dillinger Escape Plans “second to last show” which was being referred to as “The Day Before The End” in terms of appearances by the legendary musical chaos that this band is. You see, the DEP had recently announced their own personal ending of the musical book that they had created and crushed us with for many years. I shared the press release from their team on THIS LINK in case you didn’t see it for some reason.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Since this is the third announcement for the bands last go-round, I don’t have much more to add on the matter. I do hope to get to the final show as a member of the regions music press because that is the show to document on the website. Let’s see what happens. It’s safe to say that the Dillinger Escape Plan will leave a mark on our Metal selves with these now three final appearances. Over the years I’ve only ever been a casual fan who would see them when the means and time allowed me to do so. How many shows have you took part in over the years? That’s some crazy stuff live isn’t it? I joked in one of the other posts about checking on your insurance policy before heading to one of their gigs and as I cited then I was only half-kidding about this. That’s all I have for this one and unless the band adds a fourth show to the mix I will not be back about them unless I end up reviewing one of the performances or anything else that they might be involved in before the end times. See you soon I am sure.
