After A Decade + At The Mic; Vocalist Nick Tart Has Left Diamond Head!
Hey so here is some shocking news for you fine readers. Now while I am currently still in the midst of running around at the 2014 NY Comic Con, I wanted to be sure to get you some of the news that I chanced upon when I returned home last night after all of my running around. I saw this on Facebook but its official and it appears as though Nick Tart, lead singer for the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal legends Diamond Head was moving on from the group after eleven years at the microphone. You can read the official statement that he posted online below and also enjoy some of the photographs that I shot of him when they played in NYC in 2011.
Statement from Nick:
“After 11 years of being the singer for Diamond Head I now feel it’s time for me to move on. As most are aware they have already started the October tour with a replacement singer and I wish them nothing but the very best. I haven’t heard the new guy yet but I’m sure he will be great; Brian has good quality control over Diamond Head and I don’t believe he would continue touring unless he had found a singer who could pull it off. They are a very powerful band to front, so the best of luck to him, no doubt I will be snooping into you tube to see what they sound like.

New Year’s Music Resolutions For 2013: Part 5
“Gimme Five” readers, or better yet, how aboutI give you five. Yep, here we are at the Fifth Chapter of my collected “New Year’s Music Resolutions for 2013” from some musical greats. I’ve really enjoyed hearing what all of these artists have on their minds so far for the coming year and wait with anticipation for each new segment. Yeah I know I compiled the series, but I am reading it just as you would once its all loaded up so it keeps me thrilled. Here we go.
1. Sima (Solo Artist): My New Year’s Music Resolution for 2013 is to keep expressing my heart as a woman, an artist and stay true to myself. By doing this I will create new, rocking music, continue to explore my talent and look for new ways to get inspired and be creative. I truly want to reach out, touch, uplift and inspire individuals. I want to be a part of giving, receiving, and sharing love with people all over the world. I will challenge my abilities, myself as a human being and as an artist. I promise to grow, evolve, shine like a star from inside and out.
2. Angelina Del Carmen (Charetta): My band wrote mine for me ‘I will finally figure out how to use my vocal effects processor once and for all, so that I don’t further annoy my band by scrolling through the various settings repeatedly during rehearsal” – Angelina’s…. band’ But my biggest resolution for 2013 is to write, record, promote, and work fearlessly on our new book, album and clothing line.
3. Rachel Aspe (Solo Artist): My Metal Resolution for 2013 is to invade the whole world by winning “America’s Got Talent”, “X Factor”, “American Idol” and “The Voice” contests. Or maybe I’ll find a great band…

A few months ago there was a reasonable buzz hitting The Metal Republic about a tour that was listed as being the NWOBHM Tour (or the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal tour for those who don’t yet know the acronym for some reason). This event was originally set to feature singer Al Atkins (who was the original voice behind a pre-signed Judas Priest), Girlschool and Diamond Head. Now many felt this tour would sell out immediately based on Diamond Head having never been on these shores before during the course of their career and to my knowledge Atkins had never performed here either. I will admit that I was not clear about when the last time Girlschool played around these parts but soon it would not matter as Girlschool and Atkins pulled out of the event and the larger tour was cancelled in full which disappointed many of the fans that had already purchased tickets. Soon enough a booking was made for Diamond Head alone at the Metal home away from home that we have here on PiercingMetal.com (B.B. King’s for those not paying attention) and this regional show would feature local support from Livesay and Shitkill. Sadly, my early evening activities prevented me from seeing both of the local openers but I know that they would be back around soon enough and sometimes I just have the time and Metal energy for the headlining act to get the best possible scoop so here is how the Diamond Head part of the night went.
