Image/Skybound Entertainment Reveals “The Walking Dead” Variants For October

As you diehard readers of the PiercingMetal website are well aware, we have been helping to laud the awesome 25th Anniversary of the fine folks at Image Comics a lot over the past year and we are continuing the process with this announcement about their latest batch of variant covers. Check it out.

The Press Release:
Image Comics is pleased to reveal the six of 30 variants planned for the final month of 25th anniversary variants—October covers in homage of iconic THE WALKING DEAD cover designs. This final month of variants will pay tribute to some of the hottest, most jaw-dropping moments from Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard’s long-running, and industry-changing series that went on to become a pop culture phenomenon.

Available in stores on Wednesday, October 4th:

Image Comics Reveals “Images Of Tomorrow” Variant Covers For July

I’ve been doing these “variant covers” posts in celebration of the Image Comics 25th anniversary because each month the publisher has been issuing some very interesting stuff. If you’ve missed any of the posts from the past few months, just click on THIS LINK to recap because there is always a chance you can find some of the ones that you are interested in at your local comic book shop. The July plan is for “18” of their titles to get “Images Of Tomorrow” variant covers. This post features the first “9” that were revealed. Here we go.

Each month of Image’s 25th year will boast a theme for special anniversary variants.

Image Comics Reveals Final Four “25th Anniversary” February Variant Covers

I’ve been raising a glass in honor of the 2017 25th Anniversary of Image Comics and it wasn’t too long ago that I shared the press release about their special homage variant covers that will be happening in February. Yesterday they unveiled the final four covers that are coming next month and since the copy refreshed the memory on the first bunch I am adding those images back in as well for good measure. The ”Final Four” will be down towards the end of this posting. Check it out.

THE FINAL FOUR! Image Comics reveals remaining 25th anniversary tribute variants. Image Comics is thrilled to reveal the final 4 of 15 tribute variants planned for February’s 25th anniversary theme month to round out the full list of “tribute covers” celebrating the legendary cover images from throughout the Image’s history. The newly revealed tribute variants include: Sean Lewis & Hayden Sherman’s THE FEW #2 commemorating Jonathan Hickman & Nick Dragotta’s EAST OF WEST #1, Chris Dingess, Matthew Roberts, Owen Gieni’s MANIFEST DESTINY #26 commemorating Jonathan Layman & Rob Guillory’s CHEW #1, Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda’s MONSTRESS #10 commemorating Todd McFarlane’s SPAWN #1, and OUTCAST BY ROBERT KIRKMAN & PAUL AZACETA #25 commemorating Rob Liefeld’s BRIGADE #1. Each month of Image’s 25th year will announce a list of special themed anniversary variants, which will begin to hit shelves on Wednesday, February 1st—the exact date of Image Comics’ founding in 1992, and the date of this year’s “Image Comics Day.”

Image Comics Reveals 25th Anniversary Variants For 11 Titles

I recently shared some press information about Image Comics and their discounted issues for their 25th Anniversary. With 2017 being a special year for the publisher, there are a LOT of cool things coming down the pike. You can count on specially priced issues, awesome variant covers and a whole lot more. This little narrative discusses a bunch of the variant covers that their currently running titles will bear. Dig in to the press release and covers.

February’s variants will pay tribute to iconic Image covers. Image Comics is thrilled to reveal the first 11 of 15 homage variants planned for February’s 25th anniversary theme month—“tribute covers” celebrating iconic cover images from throughout the company’s history. Each month of Image’s 25th year will boast a theme for special anniversary variants, beginning with Wednesday, February 1st—the exact date of Image Comics’ founding in 1992, and the date of this year’s “Image Comics Day.”

“One of the great things about celebrating our 25th anniversary is that it creates an opportunity for us to look back at over two decades of history-making comics and showcase some of the wonderful work that made Image what it is today,” said Eric Stephenson, Publisher at Image Comics. “Everyone in the Image family is a fan at heart, and this month’s tribute variants give the participating creators a chance to show their admiration for some of comics’ greatest creator-owned triumphs by putting their own unique spin on classic images from that rich and varied past for a collection of covers as fun as they are stunning.”
