PiercingMetal Sees “Suicide Squad” @ Alpine Cinemas

Hey there readers so “Suicide Squad” opened just over two weeks ago at the time of this writing and since I am aiming at doing a lot more movie reviews when they are still in theaters here we are. I usually hit these films with our stalwart media companion Skeleton Pete but he couldn’t join me this time around. With this film, I decided to keep it local and went to the Alpine Theater in my own Bay Ridge neighborhood which was a better idea since the price of my ticket and some snacks were about the same as the ticket only at the Manhattan theater. Let’s go to the movies.

For those who are in the unaware, “Suicide Squad” is the third film in the currently being built DC Extended Universe. This began with “Man Of Steel” and continued into “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice” which was released earlier this year and since that last one was received with a very mixed and negative opinion, one could only cross their fingers about this one and to briefly recap its premise, here is what the Wiki had to say about the film’s bottom line.

“Bring On The Bad Guys”; New “Suicide Squad” Character Posters Released

As the memories of the recent “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice” film slowly fade and our nerdy data banks open themselves up to the next installment from Warner Brothers Pictures that continues the build of the DC Extended Universe with “Suicide Squad”. The film features a number of the DC Universes deadliest villains who are teamed together to fight even nastier menaces. I’ve enjoyed the comic series over its many incarnations and only hope we get a better presentation than what we were left with in “BVS”. Earlier today WB release 2 sets of “11” character posters and I love sharing that stuff with you here as a part of our “On Screen” stuff. Check them out.

Check Out The “Blitz Trailer” – “Suicide Squad” (2016)

It was recently revealed that the upcoming Warner Brothers film “Suicide Squad” was undergoing some heavy re-shoots to add in a previously overlooked sense of humor and most feel that this was being done based on the very mixed opinion that the epic “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice” had received. Apparently the one glib comment that an earlier trailer showed was the sole comedic line and after seeing “BvS” I can honestly say that I didn’t want another bleak film as this universe tries to assemble. So check out the latest trailer along with the premise for those who might need it and some of the cast. We can discuss more after that.

The Premise:
A secret government agency known as “Task Force X,” led by Amanda Waller, recruits imprisoned super-villains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency and saving the world from an unknown but powerful threat. (c/o Wiki).

Check The Trailer: “Suicide Squad” Trailer #2

Logo - Suicide Squad Film

The CW Network just aired some shows about the upcoming television series “Legends Of Tomorrow” and one that focuses on the eventually heading our way “Justice League” film with the special “The Dawn Of The Justice League”. As I was out I didn’t see them yet and will be checking out what the DVR has for me, but during these programs we got the second full trailer for the also upcoming this year film “Suicide Squad” and you can check it out below. I’ll be back with some thoughts of course afterwards.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’ll admit that I liked this trailer much more than the first one and perhaps the influx of Queen music in this one helped sway me a little bit more than I would have believed. This film features a ton of Batman villains which is not exactly how this team was originally assembled and some of them were never members of the team in the actual comics but the cinematic universe is only now finally being built for the DC stuff and I’m hoping it works out. Everyone seems to love Harley Quinn nowadays if you can use NY Comic Con as an example so her fans will be lining up at the door for this (if they’re lucky). I am still not too sold on Leto’s Joker but lets see what happens in the actual film. There seems to be a little more humor in this one than I expected which is a nice surprise considering that I don’t expect a lot of it in the March release “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice”. What did you think of this new and expanded trailer? Let me know in the comments.

When the “Suicide Squad” film opens in November of this year it will be the third film in the DC Extended Universe and that is going to be pretty cool, provided that the March to be released “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice” turns out to be good and leads us on this connecting path. It’s a long time to wait since we’re only in January, but they did release this awesome character posters which I just had to share with you. They are cartoon versions of the characters as you can see but its still something I like bringing to your attention. You can let me know what you think at the end where those comments are. Enjoy.
