You might remember that just the other day, the folks over at Live Nation Philadelphia offered a bit of a tease about a potential show by The Original Misfits (shared HERE) for those not paying attention. Well, the secret is out and the band WILL be playing in December. Check out the promoters official statement and the poster down below.
The Scoop: Following their SOLD OUT Halloween performance at Madison Square Garden in NYC, the Original Misfits bring a nightmare before Xmas to the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, December 14 with special guests Dropkick Murphys and Agnostic Front! Get ready for Christmas Evil Philly! Tickets on sale Friday at 10am!
PiercingMetal Thoughts: My head is still rattling from the performance by The Original Misfits that took place this past Saturday at the famed Madison Square Garden and while I am a bit sad that I didn’t end up witnessing a Grand Finale (as we had all been led to believe by Glenn Danzig when he disclosed that news HERE); I still had a fantastic time and am glad that they’ve decided to do a few more. The question remains about whether this does officially end at the close of 2019 or marks some European and Asian countries being visited in 2020. Let’s also hope that a live video is captured somewhere, anywhere so the larger masses who cannot attend for any reason can feel they were a part of the fun. The inclusion of the knockdown musical presence of the Dropkick Murphys and Agnostic Front make this latest show a very special one as well. It’s been great that the Original Misfits have been bringing around bands like this and The Damned, Rancid, Muphy’s Law and Suicidal Tendencies across the shows. What do you readers think about this news? Are you planning on heading to Philadelphia for the Christmas Evil Horror Days, I mean “Holidays”. Chime in down below with your own thoughts. See you next time.
It’s not even 48 Hours after what amounted to being a mind-blowing performance at New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden by The Original Misfits and their VERY LAST performance as well which was stated a few times by singer Glenn Danzig (see it HERE we aren’t lying). Then, in a surprising Facebook Page post by Live Nation Philadelphia comes this clip that also features the Flyers team mascot “Gritty”. Take a peek.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Having witnessed that NYC show I can only say that it was an over the top experience from beginning to end and I’m not sure why Glenn maintained that it was going to be the final gig when he did so at the screening of his “Verotika” Film. Perhaps he will say that he was misquoted and taken out of context that it was the final NYC gig as they now seem to be continuing along. As I mused this “announcement”, a friend and I realized that the bands birthplace of Lodi, NJ is a short hop away so perhaps they are setting their sights on that location for a grande finale to the Original Misfits lineup (which is Danzig, Jerry Only, Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, Acey Slade and Dave Lombardo if you haven’t been paying attention). The Original Misfits have not yet taken this production over to Europe and its without question that they could headline many of the bigger festival happenings by just saying they want in. Maybe we will find an Official Misfits Cruise coming to pass and showcasing Horror and other legendary Punk bands. Don’t laugh since their is a Progressive Rock cruise, a Monsters Of Rock cruise and a KISS Cruise. Only time will tell, but if this does amount to some additional gigs, you should do your best to get there and if you do go, be sure to purchase the official venue shirt fast since I couldn’t get my hands on the NYC one to save my life. It sold out almost immediately. Sigh.
The previously announced reunion of Mr. Bungle (discussed HERE) and their subsequent adding of dates for these select shows (discussed HERE) were great announcements but the massive bit of curiosity was who would be opening for these shows. Now, those answers are revealed. Check it out down below.
The Press Release:
Eureka, Calif. – Mr. Bungle, who surprised fans last month when they unexpectedly announced several live performances, all of which sold out within moments of their on-sale, have announced the bands who will be joining them for the highly-anticipated performances. Hand-picked by the Mr. Bungle band members, the openers include Cattle Decapitation, Possessed, Hirax, the Melvins, Ho99o9, C*nts and Spotlights, reflecting a mix of artists that both influenced the Eureka-born outfit’s 1986 demo, The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny, as well as current bands that the musicians are both fans of and feel are carrying on the spirit of that era, both musically and in attitude. It was back in July when we helped announce the news that the Original Misfits would bring their reunion show to New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden. You can see that post by clicking HERE. Recently, at the opening for Rob Zombie’s “3 From Hell” film, Danzig was stopped on the red carpet by the folks at Bionic Buzz where he revealed that this MSG show will be the final one. Take a look at the clip.
It was only a couple of days ago when I discussed the return of Mr. Bungle and since this was so new as far as touring news you should have seen it. If not just click HERE for the full official run down that was revealed before this update. Let’s take a look and please bear in mind that some of the information is repeated from the other announcement.
