“The Chronicles” of Piercing Ken @ Book Expo 2018

Hello my readers. I’m here to share the news that PiercingMetal.com would once again be attending the annual Book Expo that was taking place at the Javits Center. Over the last few years, I’ve found myself documenting the larger findings over on “The Chronicles” of Piercing Ken with an occasional side item that fits within our coverage context being posted here. Since this is being posted in advance of the journey that I am involved in I don’t exactly know what I will be finding yet but its going to be a busy few days as first comes Book Expo, and then there is the Five Points Festival and The Book Con which are taking place at the same time. I will have to do a single day of each event this time around. Clicking the logo below will transport you to “The Chronicles” and I hope that you enjoy the report.

Presenting The Five Points Festival 2017

Those who’ve been reading our narratives for a lengthy bit of time know how we just love a good convention here at the Metal Command HQ. We’ve been hitting the NY Comic Con for years and just this past 2016 got to enjoy the Star Trek: Mission New York event which was a brand new convention. Recently I’ve been seeing some posts about this upcoming event and I wanted to bring it to your attention in the event that its also new news to you. It sure sounds like a lot of fun so check out the Official Scoop from their website and some art. I’ll return at the close.

What Is The Five Points Festival?
“The Five Points Festival is a collision of toys, comics, and counterculture curated by Clutter Magazine and presented by Midtown Comics. A designer toy and comic convention in New York’s Lower East Side, Five Points is two days and nights of comic artists and writers, vinyl and plastic toys, original art, resin, plush, blind boxes, graphic novels, indie comics, blanks, minis, kaiju, Japanese vinyl, posters, prints, apparel, food trucks, and craft breweries – capped off by the 2017 Designer Toy Awards. The antidote to the average con, Five Points brings tastemakers, misfits, and rebels together with the new, retro, and infamous in a one-of-a-kind marketplace.”

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’m really interested in this new event and will be looking into attending provided I have the weekend open to do so. Though I cannot confirm this at the moment I am composing these thoughts, I don’t think that Special Edition NYC is returning in 2017 as they missed 2016 with that side convention to NY Comic Con. Having the Five Points Festival happening in May is a great thing since that gives many fans a summer convention in NYC that helps gear them up for the massive NYCC provided they can even get tickets for that one. My expectations are that a lot of this will be like “The Block” at NYCC where we see a ton of designer items and offerings. I’m also hoping for some cool food trucks and craft beer vendors to enjoy a bit to eat and a brew with my fellow geeks who are of age to do that sort of thing. So what do you think of this convention my friends? Is it something you are going to mark down on your calendar and plan on attending? Let me know in the comments section below. See you next time.
