This Weekend: Special Edition NYC @ Javits Center (6/14-6/15)

Attention all Comic Book Fans! There is a new convention in town and it is happening this weekend! Yes, you have read this correctly as tomorrow and Sunday (June 14th and 15th respectively) is the debut of a convention known as “Special Edition: NYC” and its under the guiding eye of the fine folks at Reed Pop who have been handling the massive New York Comic Con for many years. Check out this cool logo below 🙂

To give you a better idea of the overall premise, I cribbed this paragraph from their own website as it will give you a proper example of what this whole weekend will be about…

“Celebrate your love of comic books, cartooning, illustration and the graphic arts at Special Edition: NYC, a new comic book festival held annually in the birthplace of comics – New York City! From rising stars to living legends, Special Edition: NYC is the place to meet your favorite comic book heroes and get exclusive access to special guests from the pages of mainstream, alternative, indie, international and web comics. At Special Edition: NYC you will have the opportunity to collect the latest comics, buy the hard to find back issues and add original art to your collection. PiercingMetal Thoughts: As our readers who have been following the adventures a little longer than some others will know, I love me a good convention and have laid down plenty of coverage on things like New York Comic Con, Toy Fair, Book Expo and some additional things that fall on my other site nowadays. With that being the case I welcome this new event to the mix with open arms and since I have been approved for the proper press credentials, I shall be able to report on this as professionally as possible. It sure sounds interesting to me so I am planning on attending the pair of days and taking a whole lot of photos since you folks really like that stuff. Attention Geeks Of The Universe; New York Comic Con 2013 Begins Today!!

Yes my fine feathered comic book and science fiction geeks in arms, today starts the annual New York Comic Con at the Jacob Javits center and I shall be joining you for the adventure for as much time as possible for me to do. The event is now four days and makes the original three days seem like a cake walk. This year I will not be in attendance as officiating press and will walk through the aisles as one of the regular folks so that should be interesting as well. Of course even without press credentials I’ll be compiling a comprehensive batch of blog postings in order to let you feel as if you were wandering the event with me so please stay tuned for that stuff. I know that I will have sporadic connectivity while inside the Javits so do hold off on any urgent must reach me stuff unless you really need to.

I’ll be hitting New York Comic Con starting with the Friday session so what I have done in the meantime was to program this posting to reflect upon all our past Comic Con coverages with you by suggesting that you click the tag marked “new york comic con” which will bring you to a whole lot of postings and images. Of course there will still be other postings going up as they are queued to run so you will be alright in my absence for sure.

Let The Comic Con Games Begin: NYCC 2012 (10/11-10/14/2012)

Well, the day is finally here as the once looming New York Comic Con 2012 is now right here upon us and I am super excited about being able to attend as a member of the press once again. With this being the case, the core of the blogs and reports will be focused on this massive event for the next couple of days but I will do my best to get in some of the additional things that I have been a party to for good measure. If you still need a ticket you are out of luck my friends because this thing is sold out completely.

Last year I focused a lot more on the Costumed Players or Cosplay as they like to say and that was a LOT of fun to do. It was different and showcased the fans who make this stuff all the more special. Maybe I will do that again because it was also a way for me to get more folks interested in what we are doing with the blog and the main website. I’m not much of a planner when it comes to Comic Con and instead wander its halls by the seat of my pants. Maybe that is a bad thing to do but oh well, the task still gets done at the end of the day.

New York Comic Con 2010 Begins Today!!!!

Have I ever mentioned to you readers that I am a major comic book geek? If I haven’t then let me put that on the table right now. I was a big time collector of the medium for many, many years and only recently cut back on the stuff based on space and financials being needed for other things in life.

Anyway, that being said I am super excited about my being a member of the attending press for the 2010 NY Comic Con and Anime Festival which will be held at the Jacob Javits Center over the next few days. You might be surprised at my saying that this is the first year that I have ever attempted such a feat as a professional and while I agree that I should have been doing this for years already; I just never got around to setting the whole thing up. My plan is to cover this event as extensively as possible and that means lots of photographs and lots of narrative views. The Javits Center is a huge space and I have heard many stories from media colleagues and friends who attended in the recent past about this being a crushing amount of humanity to contend with. I will be going on all of the days and starting with my semi-private voyage of the Press Time so wish me luck.
