The Press Release:
After a very successful first in person comic convention in NYC in 18 months last July 17th 2021, the Big Apple Silver Anniversary Comic Con is locked in for September 25-26, 2021.
We are a NY staple, an historic, iconic, New York comic book and pop culture collectible event, serving the pop culture community. Non-corporate employee owned, we are of the city, in the city, and all for NYC, providing family friendly entertainment and one of the best known and frequented Comic Book collectible trade environments in United States. There has been an announcement from ReedPOP regarding the status of badges from the recent on sale day. This comes from their official Facebook Page which is also linked at the close for your convenience.
UPDATE: All badge types are now sold out. We’re moving forward with existing capacity limits at this time. We will continue to follow NYS requirements and as guidelines around large events are updated closer to October, we will alert all of you if more badges become available. You will also be able to reserve the badges you’d like to buy through our Official Badge Exchange once that opens, details available at NYCC21.com/Lyte.
*** end of transmission ***
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Truth be told this news doesn’t surprise me at all because on a good day the NYCC badges sell out fast but after a pandemic where everyone was under lockdown for a year and a few months the demand for any kind of in-person event was going to be a hot item. As many also know, ReedPOP announced some time ago that badges and access would be less than usual based on the necessary Covid-19 precautions and restrictions that they have to face. Folks who’ve ever attended one of these events know just how crowded they can be so it will be interesting to see if social distancing is even possible. If we end up attending it will be our 11th go-round but it will not be our first time back in the Javits Center since the pandemic began. The massive event space was a vaccination hub for many months but now has returned to its usual function and we are set to attend both the Summer Fancy Food Show and the New York International Auto Show as media before the New York Comic Con happens. Fans of those particular shows should tune into all the socials and site for “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken” since that is where the coverage will be. Okay that’s all I have to say about this, I hope a lot of our audience managed to get tickets for the event and we hope to see you all there come October.
Shameless Plug: During the course of the pandemic, I repurposed all of the photo galleries shot from New York Comic Con 2016-2019 and uploaded them to our Official YouTube Channel. We invite you to revisit these fun times starting HERE and hope you will spend a little time on the channel and give us a subscribe so we can reach more milestones.
May is here and day by day the world moves closer to opening up more and more places. Well, I mean NYC is getting back on track while other places have been opened up already for weeks. Let’s face it, we are a complex animal here in the Big Apple but that being said, its awesome to find our friends over at the Big Apple Comic Con announcing this free convention. Take a look.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’ve said it before and I will repeat myself here because I miss the live music and convention scene something fierce and since everything that I was going to do last year was cancelled, I sure do look forward to things coming back. However, with that being said I am not mentally “there” yet and worry more about those who were not being cautious and protecting themselves and those around them. I still have time to decide and you do as well if you are in the region but I will be considering heading to this event on the 22nd. It’s in my Grandmother’s old neighborhood and also the place where we attend the NYC Hot Sauce Expo and the Five Points Festival and I just love being in the area when I can get there. Chime in down below with what you think and I will see you next time. Thanks for reading as always and I will see you next time.

Each year the Emerald City Comic Con team works their hardest to do right by the thousands of fans that come together in Seattle. We want to create a space for you to gather, be yourselves and make memories with those who matter to you most. We have been closely monitoring the situation around the COVID-19 virus in Seattle, and, after many hours of conversation internally and consultation with local government officials and the tourism bureau, we have decided to move next week’s Emerald City Comic Con to Summer 2020 with date and detail announcement forthcoming. We did everything that we could to run the event as planned, but ultimately, we are following the guidance of the local public health officials indicating that conventions should now be postponed.
