By now I am hoping that you have watched the first two seasons of “Daredevil” along with the first seasons of “Jessica Jones”, “Luke Cage” and “Iron Fist” as a subscriber to Netflix because its all been leading up to this mini-series “The Defenders” where ALL of these mighty heroes and numerous players from across their respective shows will appear and unite against a common foe. If you have only recently subscribed to Netflix, then you have some serious binge watching to do and I recommend you keep these shows in order since much like the big screen hero counterparts, this does take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and there is referencing throughout the shows. Take a look at the official poster and the premise and casting below.
The Premise: Set a few months after the events of the second season of Daredevil, and a month after the events of Iron Fist, the vigilantes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist team up in New York City to fight a common enemy in The Hand. As most fans of the comic and movie media stuff we post about know, the Comic Con International: San Diego of “SDCC” is underway and will be winding down today with its fourth and final day. This convention always brings the trailers and sneak-peaks into the upcoming Fall television shows and motion pictures and as you know there is a lot coming out this year. These are the Marvel Comics “Street Level” heroes and here is the second trailer for the upcoming series. Check it out.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I pretty much raved about the first trailer and this just excites me all the more. I really enjoyed the other shows and hope that this keeps on coming. Most of us were skeptical at the beginning and here we are now chomping at the bit for the next go at these characters. Sure I wasn’t crazy about this being called “The Defenders” since I grew up on a different team but this dynamic sure seems to work. The question remains is will we find any of these folks in the 2018 major motion picture “Avengers: Infinity War”. Part of me says “no” because they are NOT Avengers at all but neither are the Guardians Of The Galaxy, Doctor Strange and Spider-Man and they are all in there. Only time will tell for that. “The Defenders” will consist of eight total episodes and will be available for streaming in full on August 18, 2017. Check it out.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Since I’ve really enjoyed all of the Netflix offerings to date I have to say that I am looking forward to this teaming up of all four of them. Now this is even with my initial hesitation about their using the name “The Defenders” since I grew up on the team that consisted of Dr. Strange, The Incredible Hulk, Silver Surfer and The Sub-Mariner. Oddly enough two of those heroes are not even in the Marvel Cinematic Universe of properties but I think I might have preferred their going with “Heroes For Hire” more than anything else. Based on this trailer, the mini-series seems to have everyone that was a side character in it as well which is awesome. “The Defenders” will consist of eight total episodes and will be available for streaming in full on August 18, 2017.
