Well, almost time that is…….

The big moment is just around the proverbial corner and I am pretty confident that I speak for a majority of the worlds comic book fans when I say just how exciting that is. Ladies and gents, fan boys and girls of all ages “The Avengers” movie opens in four short days!!!! For the past couple of years this film has been hinted at and was in a sense being led up to as we enjoyed The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 1 & 2, Thor, and Captain America The First Avenger. At the end of each of those films you might recall seeing an additional two minute sequence that tied the characters worlds together (and if you didn’t I suggest renting them and zipping to the end of the credits so you can catch up with the rest of us). Putting all of these mighty Marvel Comics characters together was a great idea and something that I think has been long anticipated by the fans. The trailers look awesome and its probably the movie that I am looking forward to the most out of the upcoming other hero movies. It won’t be long until “The Avengers” takes over the box office with a film that really looks to blow our collective minds in terms of the excitement and how well it seems to have teamed all of the Marvel Studios characters into a single film. Back in 2011, I shared the first trailer which you can refer to HERE if you didn’t see it. It was also released around the time of the annual New York Comic Con which we went to and I’d love for you to peruse my posts from that by clicking HERE as well. So onto the second trailer and you are going to want to hold onto your hats. Here we go.

The Premise: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Hulk) unite under the direction of Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. against the villainous Asgardian Loki who seems to take over the Earth. “Avengers Assemble!!!”

Marvel Studios: “The Avengers” Official Trailer (Opening 2012)

The buzz around this film has been high especially with the recently held New York Comic Con at the Javits Center. Truth be told how could it not be anything but a highlight at an event like this and to be brutally honest with you, at the closing of the “Captain America: The First Avenger” film when the bonus scene flashed on the screen saying “Some Assembly Required”, I actually jumped out of my seat and screamed. My mind was blown that this was actually going to happen and here we are with the first official trailer from the upcoming film. Get excited. Really, trust me…..get EXCITED. Here we go.

Opening Today: “Thor” (5/6/2011)

“Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor….”

Those are the words inscribed upon the legendary Mjolnir, the hammer of Thor and the only weapon worthy of a Thunder God. Today the film that presents his adventures to the world will open as Marvel Comics continues their delivery of live action super hero films.

The film stars Chris Hemsworth as The Mighty Thor and his is joined by Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), and Tom Hiddleston (Loki). I’ve tried to avoid any advance insight but its been reported that the film will take place both on Asgard and on Earth which is good to find being the case. In terms of comic book characters I have always enjoyed Thor as a super hero even if I was not following him as long as I was the likes of Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four or Hulk. Needless to say I’m pretty excited for this as it brings us one step closer to “The Avengers” which they say will be coming at us in 2012 some time. So far they have been doing a bang up job with these films and each one has led us into the next thanks to the closing teaser scene. My hope is that you readers have seen “Iron Man”, “Incredible Hulk” and “Iron Man 2” already and if not, what are you waiting for? “Thor” is directed by Kenneth Branagh and produced by Kevin Feige.

To avoid spoilers to the larger plot of the film I’ve closed the ability to comment on this posting. Should I end up posting a review of any kind on the site, you will be more than welcome to leave us your own thoughts on that post. Hopefully I will see the film before I hear too many details myself. I seldom get to go on the opening day even though I would love to for stuff like this.
