Announcing: “Celebrating The Life Of Chester Bennington”; A Photo Exhibit by Jim Louvau

The loss of Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington still weighs heavily on the hearts and minds of millions of his fans but at least we have a wonderful catalog of music, live concert memories and scores of photographs captured along the way. With this in mind I share some cool news about a very special exhibit happening in March on the Left Coast. Check it out.

The Press Release:
In commemoration of the late CHESTER BENNINGTON– best known for being the vocalist for multi-platinum rock band Linkin Park-a special photo exhibit will take place on March 20, what would have been his 43rd birthday, at The Black Sheep Gallery in Burbank, CA featuring never-before-seen photos captured by CHESTER’s close friend and artist JIM LOUVAU.

The event will take place from 7:00 – 10:00 PM following a private VIP reception for family and friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. A limited amount of tickets for the event are on sale now for $25, with a portion of proceeds being donated to his widow, Talinda Bennington’s charity for suicide prevention, 320 Changes Direction. Tickets are available for purchase here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/celebrating-the-life-of-chester-bennington-a-photo-exhibit-by-jim-louvau-tickets-54775251251.

“Over the course of our 17-year friendship I was lucky enough to document the evolution of the young musician who never took himself too seriously to the family man and philanthropist he developed into,” LOUVAU says. “Now it’s time to honor the memory of someone who I owe a great deal of gratitude by sharing the art we created together with the world and continue to celebrate his legacy on his birthday.”

Reflecting On The 2017 Deaths In Music

If you’ve been reading the PiercingMetal website for a while then you already know that I occasionally need to share the sad news about deaths in the entertainment world. Historically speaking, I’ve been doing them since the days when I had “PiercingMetal Musings” as a side blog that had not yet been integrated into the main site as you see now. Back then I always felt weird about doing such posts but as much as good news should be announced so should the bad stuff and as a known “voice” for the Metal Scene, I try to keep up on them when the news hits the wire. Now with this being said, there is no way possible for me to address every single one of them based on the size of the team and the time that we have so starting this year I will be doing a larger rundown of many of the names that I think you would know. Some have already been discussed in our “In Memoriam” Features, and those artists will be highlighted so you can examine the longer toast that we did. Let’s start from the beginning of the year and raise a glass to their memories one more time.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I don’t have much to add about this terrible development and only hope that those who are in dire need of it are able to find some healing comfort as soon as possible based on Chester’s actions. I know that many of our readers loved him. I raised a glass to his memory as a part of our In Memoriam narratives and you can read Chester’s HERE. Please feel free to leave your own thoughts on how special he was to you on that memorial reflection. Be safe and be strong my friends. All the best to everyone in the LP family.

Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington Has Died (1976-2017)

Chester w Stone Temple Pilots (2015)

Though the news has been circulating for the better part of the hour, I am taking the time to confirm that not only has Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington died, but that his end was due to a suicide where he hung himself in his residence. He was found in this fashion by one of household staff early in the morning and was dead at the time of his discovery and this leads authorities to believe that he had done this late last night or early this morning. Chester Bennington was 41 years old. For most of the world, Chester was known to us as being the singer for the Alt-Metal band Linkin Park and also as the main man for Stone Temple Pilots once their singer Scott Weiland had stepped down to pursue other paths. He would do this for two years before deciding to spend the majority of his time on the future of Linkin Park. Shortly after Chester stepped down from STP, the bands original singer was found dead of a drug overdose. It’s both interesting and alarming to note that today is also the birthday of the late great Chris Cornell who took his own life back in May of this year. Another light extinguished before shining as bright as it still could and this saddens me greatly.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Though I’ve been listening to the band since the first album, I only ever caught them once in concert and that was for the second release. I’ve never actually “covered” their live shows as a member of press but do have a few of the recordings here on the website and I think that I am going to get this one off the bucket list and be a part of the closest show to my region. I’ve never listened to Machine Gun Kelly at all but that happens sometimes so if I do manage to attend I will be sure to check him out as well. What do you diehards think about these dates? Will you be attending one or two or three of them? Let me know down in the comments section below.
