Back in December 2015, 20th Century Fox unveiled the teaser trailer for the next chapter in the X-Men film franchise that will be heading our way on Memorial Day Weekend in 2016; It’s called “X-Men: Apocalypse” and now we have just been given the first full official trailer.

The Premise: Since the dawn of civilization, Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant, was worshiped as a god. Amassing the powers of many other mutants, he became immortal and invincible. When Apocalypse awakens after several millennia, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it, and recruits a team of mutants to cleanse humanity and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven with the help of Charles Xavier must lead a team of young X-Men to save humanity. (thanks Wiki).

PiercingMetal Thoughts:
I’ve already spoken briefly about this film in terms of first thoughts but I shall reitirate that I liked it. The action seems non-stop and there are numerous new characters to enjoy. We’re getting Storm and Psylocke here and while I like those characters I am not sure how I feel about them being representations of Apocalypse’s Four Horsemen. My heavy itinerary is keeping me from adding anything more but it does look good and only time will tell if this will surpass the record numbers that “Deadpool” received. If you have not yet seen “Deadpool” please get on that because it was fantastic. This trailer was good but still is a close second for me to the recently unveiled “Captain America: Civil War” one which I discussed HERE. Make sure you watch this one because we are only days away from the opening of “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice” and its very likely a lot of he superhero discussions will lean to this film. It’s really a great time to be a fan of this stuff don’t you think? Speaking of thinking, why don’t you let me know your thoughts on this trailer in the comments below.

20th Century Fox has just unveiled the trailer for the next chapter in the X-Men film franchise that will be heading our way on Memorial Day Weekend in 2016; Take a look below and get your first full glimpse of “X-Men: Apocalypse”….I’ll return afterward to line out some thoughts.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’ll speak quickly on this one and say that I liked it just fine as far as the action shown along with the newer X-Men that are being introduced to the film. However I did have some problems with Apocalypse’s voice. As someone who has read about this character since his own first appearance back in “X-Factor” #5 (way back in May of 1986 if you can believe that), I always “heard” this character speaking in an authoritative, more powerful than anyone around him voice. Sort of a meaner, more imposing Doctor Doom or even to better relate this to something movie viewers are aware of – Thanos’ voice in “Guardians Of The Galaxy”. A voice that sends a shiver down your spine and makes you feel like wetting yourself if he is too angry and directing that right at you. This Apocalypse sounds too pleasant in what we are offered here. Anyway that is all I have on the matter and we have until the end of May to debate this films merits or lack thereof. By the time this is released we will already have gotten “Deadpool” (February 2016), “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice” (March 2016) and “Captain America: Civil War” (early May 2016) so depending on how good or bad those films all are this one will surely need to deliver the goods. Let me know what you think in the comments section below.
