Iron Maiden Announces Simon Dawson As Their New Drummer

It was just very early yesterday when the Heavy Metal world was thrown the most unexpected of curve balls with the announcement that the powerhouse drummer Nicko McBrain would be stepping down from the legendary Iron Maiden after more than forty years behind the kit. His and the bands statement are presented HERE in the event that you missed it and just a short while ago, the band announced their new drummer – Simon Dawson. Read on.

The Statement:
“As The Future Past Tour concludes after 81 shows to over 1.4 million fans, from Ljubljana to the Coachella Valley and from Western Australia to Sao Paulo, Iron Maiden are delighted to announce that stepping in behind the kit for 2025 is a name familiar to many of our fans – Simon Dawson, a former session drummer and Steve’s rhythm section partner of the past 12 years with British Lion. A native of Suffolk, England, Simon first teamed up with Steve Harris back in 2012. He debuted on three tracks on the first British Lion album and all of the second critically acclaimed ‘The Burning’, plus the many subsequent tours in the US, UK, Europe, Australia, Japan, New Zealand &, most recently, both Mexico and South America. Iron Maiden celebrate their 50th Anniversary next year with The Run For Your Lives Tour starting in Budapest on May 27th”.

British Lion Announces New Album “The Burning” and North American Tour For 2020

Here’s another tour to add to the bag of Halloween treats for the day. Steve Harris’ own collaboration British Lion has a new album and a North American Tour. Dig in.

Explorer1 Music (E1) are proud to announce a new collaboration in the U.S. with their release of Iron Maiden bassist and founder Steve Harris’ second album with BRITISH LION, the ‘up close and personal’ side project he devotes his time to, outside of his Maiden activities, which will be followed by an 18-date U.S. tour (details below).

“The Burning” features 11 new songs and will be released worldwide on January 17th 2020 in Digi-pack CD, double gatefold Vinyl and Digital Download formats. BRITISH LION comprises: vocalist Richard Taylor, guitarists David Hawkins and Grahame Leslie, Steve Harris on bass & keyboards and drummer Simon Dawson. Recorded, engineered and mixed at Barnyard Studios by Tony Newton and produced by Steve Harris, The Burning is crammed with powerful hard rock melodies, with two songs “Lightning” and “Spit Fire” being made available for immediate download from tomorrow with all album pre-orders at https://explorer1-music.myshopify.com/collections/britishlion.
