Brian Johnson’s Official Statement On AC/DC Outcome

For the past couple of days, ACDC Fans around the world have been both lamenting and celebrating the inclusion of Guns ‘N Roses singer Axl Rose after it was announced that Brian Johnson would be stepping aside due to potential complete hearing loss. It was news that struck all of us rather hard but like I said, some were calling this the end of the band as we know it while others were excited to find the chance to see Axl Rose singing these classic tunes. Earlier today, Brian Johnson released a full official statement on the matter and I have shared it with you below.

As many AC/DC fans know, the remaining shows for the 2016 AC/DC Rock or Bust World Tour, including 10 postponed U.S. shows, are being rescheduled with a guest singer. I want personally to explain the reason because I don’t believe the earlier press releases sufficiently set out what I wanted to say to our fans or the way in which I thought it should be presented.

On March 7th, after a series of examinations by leading physicians in the field of hearing loss, I was advised that if I continue to perform at large venues, I risked total deafness. While I was horrified at the reality of the news that day, I had for a time become aware that my partial hearing loss was beginning to interfere with my performance on stage. I was having difficulty hearing the guitars on stage and because I was not able to hear the other musicians clearly, I feared the quality of my performance could be compromised. In all honesty this was something I could not in good conscience allow. Our fans deserve my performance to be at the highest level, and if for any reason I can’t deliver that level of performance I will not disappoint our fans or embarrass the other members of AC/DC. I am not a quitter and I like to finish what I start, nevertheless, the doctors made it clear to me and my bandmates that I had no choice but to stop performing on stage for the remaining shows and possibly beyond. That was the darkest day of my professional life.

This Just In: AC/DC To Reschedule Upcoming US Tour Dates

Some bad news from the AC/DC Camp as singer Brian Johnson has been ordered by doctors to hold off on the remaining tour dates on their currently in progress “Rock Or Bust” tour or risk complete injury to his hearing. The official statement is below the poster.

AC/DC TO RESCHEDULE UPCOMING U.S. TOUR DATES; SINGER BRIAN JOHNSON ADVISED BY DOCTORS TO DISCONTINUE TOURING

AC/DC are forced to reschedule the 10 upcoming dates on the U.S. leg of their “Rock or Bust” World Tour. AC/DC’s lead singer, Brian Johnson, has been advised by doctors to stop touring immediately or risk total hearing loss. Tomorrow’s show in Atlanta through Madison Square Garden in New York, NY in early April will be made up later in the year, likely with a guest vocalist. More information regarding these rescheduled shows to come. Current ticket holders can hold on to their tickets for the rescheduled dates or receive a refund at point of purchase.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Wow does that suck and I really hope that Brian will be able to come out of this as best as humanly possible. Hearing loss is not something a musician can risk and after years and years of throttling fans with AC/DC you know he has gotten some damage in this area. Being told that he faces complete deafness if he continues has got to be some scary information even at 68 years of age. I’ve made it a point to wear earplugs at all the concerts that I attend and have had this in play since I used to be in a band myself. I really suggest that you younger fans give this a whirl as well since you have a lot of concert going years ahead of you and they do not take away from your show enjoyment at all. This is serious business folks so let’s keep Brian in our minds and send well wishes for a positive outcome. I cannot imagine seeing AC/DC with another vocalist at this point but if that is what is heading our way I guess we best prepare ourselves for shows with a special guest singer. When any new dates get released I will be sure to post them here on the website. Thoughts if any, can be left in the comments section.

AC/DC Unveil North American “Rock Or Bust” 2016 Dates

I think we need to do a kickstarter campaign for some Heavy Metal concert currency and have it emblazoned with resolve that “In Rock We Trust” because it’s the kind of thing that will show a sense of community, honor and remind us to be on point as band after awesome band brings us music that shake the very foundation below our feet. I realize I am being both dramatic and wry at the same time but how could I do anything less when the band AC/DC unveils additional US tour date check out the full press copy below and then I’ll return with closing thoughts.

Tour - ACDC - Rock Or Bust NA 2016

The Press Release:
December 14, 2015 – New York, NY – American dates for the next leg of AC/DC’s “Rock or Bust” World Tour were announced today. The American dates kick off on February 2nd in Tacoma, WA at the Tacoma Dome and run through April 4th in New York, NY at Madison Square Garden (see below for a full list of dates). Tickets are on sale starting Friday, December 18th. For more information, visit ACDC.com; The American Tour date announcement comes after a massive year for the band, with them kicking off the 57th annual Grammy Awards, headlining at Coachella, and completing 28 shows in Europe, 14 shows in North America and 11 shows in Australia/New Zealand.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: What can one say about such a legendary force in Heavy Metal music except isn’t it amazing to find ourselves in the end of the year 2015 and still be able to enjoy a band such as this on the live stage so many decades after their formation. Yeah some members have changed over the years but the fire and spirit of the late great Bon Scott smiles down while raising the horns at their many accomplishments and influences on the music scene around them. It’s safe to say that most Metalheads can sing no less than a dozen AC/DC songs from beginning to end and maybe even more depending on how strong their admiration is. It’s so great to find the band returning for additional dates and “holy smokes NYC” as you are so incredibly fortunate that they are closing out the run at the famous Madison Square Garden. Let me add a not too shameless plug that this is also the 11th anniversary of the launch of PiercingMetal.com so I will be celebrating and rocking eleven times as hard if I should get myself into this sure to be sold out show. “Iron Man 2” (Soundtrack) by AC/DC

As I’ve noted in a number of postings on the websites companion blog “PiercingMetal Musings”, we are BIG fans of the comic book medium here at the Metal Command HQ and that same mentality applies to any big budget film that relates to the stuff. A few short weeks ago saw the release of “Iron Man 2” from Marvel Studios and this is the third film in what is proving to be a wonderful connected universe. It stars Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man if you are not up to speed and he is perfect for the role. It’s been super cool to see this character on the big screen and I remain hopeful about what is coming down the creative pike from the studio. Now this review is not about the film but the soundtrack that accompanies it since it’s a collection of AC/DC tunes and in some sense can be considered a sequel to their “Who Made Who” album. That was a Greatest Hits Compilation for a film called “Maximum Overdrive” and I should admit that while I own the CD I never, ever saw the film. Let’s go over what is to be found on this release.
