For the last few weeks it’s been a constant vibe of anticipation as to when the first look at “Spider-Man: No Way Home” was going to surface and expand Spider-Man’s presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sony Pictures really had us chomping at the bit while Marvel Studios delivered new trailers for “Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings” and “Eternals” but now the moment has arrived and there is a teaser trailer to enjoy below. I’ve even included the premise and casting but there wasn’t any poster art to share yet. That will come in time I guess.
The Premise: Following the events of “Spider-Man: Far From Home”, in which his identity was exposed at the hands of Mysterio, Peter Parker’s life and his reputation is turned upside down. Seeking help from Doctor Strange to try and fix everything, things soon become much more dangerous and Parker must find what it really means to be Spider-Man. Well my fellow geeks, we’ve done it and helped this grand news happen. After almost three months in theaters, Marvel Studios film “Avengers: Endgame” has become to Highest Grossing Film of All Time with an achievement of $2.789 billion dollars. It’s topped the long-standing “Avatar” film which has held the title since 2009 and had achieved $2.787 billion dollars during its full theatrical run. Now according to my reading, “Avatar” was in the theaters for a lot longer than “Avengers: Endgame” has been so far so who knows if the film will reach the $3 billion dollar mark when all is said and done. Let’s take a look at the main poster, premise and massive casting once more before continuing.
The reveals from this years Comic Con International: San Diego have been bountiful as you can see by clicking HERE but there was nothing that I was interested more in the revelations and announcements from the Marvel Studios panel at the hallowed “Hall H”. What I’ve done was taken the tweets as they went live on their Official Account and added them here so this post is a bit “live” for the duration. As everything is happening too fast to mull upon the ideas and announcements, I will be adding additional editorial in post. Let’s go and be aware that this postwill feature some spoilers to the outcome of “Avengers: Endgame” since that film came out back in April and if you are someone who’s waited this long it probably doesn’t matter to you anyway.
First of the announcements comes the news about the “Eternals” film with the cast being cited as well. I should stress that I was not watching the Hall H panel as I had hoped to be since I don’t think it was streaming anywhere and was just keeping pace alongside the assorted feeds I was following.
Just announced in Hall H at #SDCC, Marvel Studios’ THE ETERNALS with Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh and Don Lee. Directed by Chloé Zhao. In theaters November 6, 2020. pic.twitter.com/k6ZgfX38VW
Eternals: In my vast collection of individual comic book issues, I do admit to owning at least a dozen issues that feature “The Eternals”. However, that being said, I was never much the fan of the Kirby creations and wonder how a movie about them can be made to work. Sure, Marvel Studios made “Guardians Of The Galaxy” work out to excellence with a cast of characters that were not the traditional GOTG to many of us so I have some faith. While skeptical, I am willing to let Marvel Studios work their magic.
Just announced in Hall H at #SDCC, Marvel Studios’ THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER, an original series with Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and Daniel Brühl. Streaming exclusively on Disney+, Fall 2020. pic.twitter.com/FmFMKWUrhO
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: This is the first series announced the for Disney+ service which I will be subscribing to without hesitation. This one picks up post “Avengers: Endgame” and will likely follow Falcon as Falcon Cap since he has the shield now after the outcome of that last film. I’m very excited about the return of Zemo and knowing that he will be sporting the famous red hood that he is known for in the comics. Do not adjust your internet feed or monitor screen because you are not at all imagining things. Yes, “Avengers: Endgame” is a film that has already been released and actually just completed its first box-office run on 6/20. The film was nothing short of a blockbuster draw and has brought in $2.751 billion dollars in ticket sales since opening. It is listed as the second highest grossing film of all time, falling short of 2009’s “Avatar” by only $37 million dollars. Today the film is being re-released with additional footage and a bonus scene or two which as you recall were not a part of the first film if you were among the throngs that saw it during the first go round. If you’d like to see any of our posts related to the film so far you can click HERE to peruse them. Please be mindful of the spoilers which might be in some since the films been out for some time already. This run will be limited and not at every movie house you see so check your listings and rally the charge with a hearty #AvengersAssemble
