Secure The Crypts & Lock The Gates; Graveyard Has Called It A Night

While Friday is generally ever working persons day of the week, today is a sad one as the very popular Doom/Hard Rock band Graveyard have announced that the journey together is over. The bands statement from the Official Facebook is below their logo. Check it out.

“Dark clouds above the graveyard today.

Due to the all so classic reason “differences within the band” the Graveyard is as of today officially closed. This is the unfortunate final decision we’ve had to make after going through a period of struggling n juggling with personal issues. Things have gone out of hand and now our energy is very low. As a direct result of this we’re sorry to say that all scheduled touring is cancelled.

Graveyard have always been more about the music than the talking and that approach is the way we intend to deal with this situation also. What we can say is that we don’t know if and when the Graveyard will re-open and return in full force.

Stay tuned, stay awesome & No endless night in sight.

Joakim, Axel, Truls, Jonatan”

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Sadly, while I enjoyed all the stuff that I heard from the band they were not an act that I got to see all that often. Historically speaking I think I only ever caught them twice in concert and that is far too little based on how good those times were. I know a lot of my Metal Inner Circle would go to see them wherever they were playing down here but with me it was more of a conflicting schedule sort of thing. At least we have the albums to remember them by and who knows, perhaps this breakup will make the guys realize that they should instead rethink the decision based on fan outrage. What do you readers think of the disbanding of Graveyard? Let me know in the comments section below.

The Band Agalloch Has Ended (1995-2016)

The past couple of days have been loaded with celebratory news about reunions and tours and festivals but amidst these wonderful announcements comes the sadder news from the Agalloch side of the fence about their calling it a career. Their official statement can be found below.

From The Band Facebook:

“Following 20 years, 5 full length albums, many tours around the world, and numerous other recordings, John Haughm and the rest of the band (Don Anderson, Jason Walton, and Aesop Dekker) have parted ways. What the future holds for the separate parties remains undetermined. We collectively thank all of our fans across the world. There are also way too many other people to thank who made this band possible. You know who you are.”

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I always hate when a band that has so many powerful things to say decides to call it a career and sadly I never got to see them in concert more than a couple of times over the years. That said at least we still have their crushing works and I wish all of their members well and thank them for the music. Good luck in your future’s, we’ll be listening. Fans who wish to leave us their thoughts about this breakup may do so in the comments section below.

Sweden’s Sister Sin Calls It A Day (2002-2015)

The morning coffee was interrupted by the sad news about the Swedish Hard Rock band Sister Sin who have decided to call it a day and disband. The official statement was found on their Facebook Page

“As of today, November 7th 2015, SISTER SIN is no more.

We know this may come as a surprise to many of you; honestly, it kinda took us by surprise too.
What was supposed to be a short eight weeks break, suddenly & unfortunately, turned in to the demise of the band.

– We have been touring and recording in a relentless schedule since 2008 and I guess we burned the candle in both ends and hit a wall. When we finally had the opportunity to step back and get some perspective, the motivation for some members in the band just wasn’t there any more…

If you can trust what you read on a person’s Official Facebook Page then I guess we can share that the California based Heavy Metal band “Huntress” is apparently done since their singer Jill Janus posted this this statement earlier in the day:

“The end. I told ya the Huntress Trilogy would fulfill my purpose. I’m packing it up. Maiden, Mother, Crone. I struggle through life with Bipolar, Schizophrenia & Dissociative identity disorders. I beat uterine cancer with a devastating hysterectomy. I will continue to create music. On my terms. Fuck the meaningless noise and trolls. My way, forever. Suck it. Done.”

“Goodbye” & “Thanks” To Chimaira For Their Metal Contributions

Okay so please let me first beseech your forgiveness about getting this news online a few days after it started making the rounds. This was not an intended oversight but more based on my limited time at the Metal Command HQ while participating in and devoting my time at some other events during the evenings for the past several days. That said here is where we stand. A few days ago it was reported that every single member of the band Chimaira had quit the group with the exception of singer/founder Mark Hunter. Two days later, Hunter himself announced that the band would be dissolving and their official website now shows the following announcement directly from Hunter.

RIP - Chimaira - 2014
