The Details: Before I start off on this, I need to ask you a simple question. “Were you a part of the capacity, sold out show crowd that helped to welcome Wintersun to NYC for the very first time at the Gramercy Theatre back in December of 2012”? If not you surely missed out and while the band was supporting their Nuclear Blast Records label mates Eluveitie, it was clear that they were the hot property on the bill. The bands return to the USA for a full on headlining tour is exciting news enough but when you add the likes of Fleshgod Apocalypse, Arsis and Starkill as the supporting acts well now we have a party and I will admit that the entire package excites me. Thanks to the fine folks at Livenation, I am happily going to put some lucky PiercingMetal readers into the show for free. Read further down to see how to participate.

Wintersun Announces Headlining US Tour

Here’s a powerful package to check out, it seems that Wintersun is coming back for a headlining run of the US. Since the press release addresses some of the items I was going to bring up, I will leave it at this and say check out the poster, press copy and dates. I’ll return at the close to offer up some additional thoughts.

After several sold-out shows last year on their inaugural North American co-headlining tour with ELUVEITIE, Finnish epic metallers WINTERSUN will return to our shores once again for a headlining tour this August/September sponsored by MetalSucks! Joining them are Italian symphonic death metal champions FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, melodic tech-death kings ARSIS and up-and-comers STARKILL.

New Year’s Music Resolutions For 2013: Part 12

Well my Metal legions we have finally reached the last chapter of our “New Year’s Music Resolutions for 2013” and holy mackeral this was a doozy when compared to last year’s series. The last few resolution quotes that we have are below, but first I want to thank everyone who participated in the series and those media resources that reached out to their talent pool to get us some really awesome stuff. You all made a very fun project all the more exciting. Now let’s get to the final resolutions and onto our new year’s blogging and reporting.

1. Noah Martin (Arsis): This year, I firstly hope to finally refinish my ESP with transparent neon green. My practice regiment will include, but not be limited to, an additional two hours, devoted wholly to slide vibrato and hair windmills. Arsis will make “Unwelcome” a critically-acclaimed and successful album through proper touring and positive reception from the press. Happy New Year’s!

2. Chris Catero (Razer): My New Year’s Music Resolution is to become something more than a caveman on my home ProTools rig!

3. Fred LeClercq (Dragonforce): “New Year’s Music Resolution is workin on my different projects as well as writing songs for a new Dragonforce album. The only challenge is to know which riff suits what band. But still its fun. That. And also try to drink less while on tour thats another challenge, haha”

Scion A/V Presents: Arsis’ “Lepers Caress”

The current state of the economy finds me always loving when the fine folks at Scion A/V offer up The Metal Republic some free, and really cool Metal to help enhance not only their collections but their overall appreciation and curiosity about a bands body of work. The newest free EP delivers you six tracks from the incredibly blazing Arsis. You know the band I am speaking about, the ferocious Technical Death Metal group from Yorktown, VA that is the brainchild of James Malone. I’ve enjoyed their stuff on recording and in the live sense for a few years now so I was very happy to find them being featured on one of these free EP’s. If this is your first go at the band then you are in for a treat (especially if you someone who goes crazy for technical guitar and drum wizardry). Arsis does it right and that is the best way I can describe it to you. The EP is entitled “Lepers Caress” and you can download all five songs into your collection by clicking the album art just below. Go, go, go…

This free EP download could not have come at a better time because we are hours away from the band heading out as direct support for the mighty Sonata Arctica. Talk about a double dose punch of musical power. Do yourself a favor Metal fans and be sure to attend one of these shows. I know that I will be there at the NYC appearance in Gramercy Theatre for sure and a review will make it to these pages as soon as is humanly possible. Stay tuned for that.
