It was just this past weekend that the PiercingMetal High Command was once again in attendance at the now expanded Anime NYC convention at the Javits Center. This is their eighth convention and I’ve been attending since the very beginning. While we are posting this notice a few days post convention, I have been uploading the photos taken with the mobile to our Official Instagram since Friday and I have miles to go based on how many I see when I scroll the gallery on my device. This year I decided to focus more on the cosplayers and some of the artists that I spoke to and yes there are even a few reels to enjoy when you visit the profile that is linked via the image down below. To see all of the coverage posts and features you can click HERE as that will open up a new browser tag with the content that’s been dedicated to the 2024 convention. I will say that at the time of this writing I haven’t begun working on the longer posts and that those are coming soon. Now without any further adieu, here begins the Anime NYC 2024 Instagram Takeover. I hope you enjoy and engage with the content and even tell some friends because we’re here to entertain everyone.

Greetings my Anime and Manga fans, today begins the awesome Anime NYC Convention which returns to the Javits Center for its seventh in-person event. As longer tenured readers know, the event is organized and curated by the fine folks from Leftfield Media and a major sponsor is Crunchyroll. Now before you start thinking that the website has posted this kind of alert three months early let me tell you that you are NOT imagining things and that the convention has moved to the summer from its long-standing former dates in November. The other big news is that this year it will be twice the size as they take over the entire Javits Center. The vendors will be expanded up, the features will be expanded upon and there are going to be even more people than the last time around which makes this even more awesome. There are several special features inside the event this year like the Play NYC convention which some of you know we cover every year and in case you haven’t realized yet, we are indeed returning as a member of the Manga-nificent media attendees.

This first-ever American Manga Awards will celebrate the outstanding achievements of professionals in the world of Japanese comics, who have made significant contributions to manga’s popularity, both in North America and Japan. The manga market in North America has quadrupled in the past four years, and popular manga series regularly top the bestseller lists. Many of the biggest global entertainment franchises from Japan including Attack on Titan, One Piece, Dragon Ball, My Hero Academia, Spy x Family, and Sailor Moon originated as manga series, and based on 2023 data, manga was the 4th largest category in the U.S. book market, according to Kristen McLean, Senior Executive Director of the Circana Entertainment Knowledge Group.
