Hey there my friends, I am here once again to share some music awards winners rundown from the recently held Alternative Press Music Awards. I shared this information last year as longer tenured readers might recall and it doesn’t hurt for more to learn who is getting awards for the work that they do in music. Truth be told this kind of music awards show is more in tune with what we cover here on PiercingMetal than the Grammy Awards are so let’s get down to business. I’ve left the nominees in the list as well so you can see who the winners beat out.
Best Vocalist: Winner: Lynn Gunn (PVRIS)
Ben Barlow (Neck Deep)
Cody Carson (Set It Off)
Derek DiScanio (State Champs)
John O’Callaghan (The Maine)
Keith Buckley (Every Time I Die)
Best Guitarist Presented By PRS: Winner: Jordan Buckley (Every Time I Die)
Ben Weinman (The Dillinger Escape Plan)
Claudio Sanchez (Coheed And Cambria)
Reba Meyers (Code Orange)
Steve Menoian (I Prevail)
Teppei Teranishi (Thrice)
You’ll have to pardon my getting this one up a little later than I would have liked but with Metallica releasing a video for every single song on their new album and my needing to be on point with that, I was a tad preoccupied. Now with that out of the way I can share the broadcast that hit my mailbox a few short days ago and discusses some early 2017 dates by singer Andy Black who will be bringing his “The Shadow Side” album to life. Check it out.
The Press Release:
Supporting his critically acclaimed full-length debut, The Shadow Side [LAVA/Republic Records], ANDY BLACK will hit the road in 2017 on The Homecoming Tour: Curtain Call. Support comes from William Control and Palaye Royale on all dates. Tickets go on-sale this Friday November 18, 2016, 10am local time available on BLACK’s website.
Known for his engaging, enthralling, and explosive live shows, BLACK once again pulls out all of the stops for The Homecoming Tour: Curtain Call, igniting The Shadow Side on stage nightly. A sequel to The Homecoming Tour, Curtain Call commences on February 8 at Chameleon Club in Lancaster, PA, hits major markets across North America, and finishes up with a hometown Southern California gig at The Glass House in Pomona, CA on March 3. The full itinerary is included below. Continue reading Andy Black Announces “The Homecoming Tour: Curtain Call” Tour For 2017→
Artist: Andy Black Title: “We Don’t Have To Dance” Label: Universal Music Release Date: 3/18/2016 Genre: Power Pop/Synthwave Rating: 4/5
You know his name from being the lead vocal presence behind the Black Veil Brides and while Mr. Biersack once went by Andy Six he now goes by either Andy Biersack (his family name) and Andy Black which is the name he uses for his solo efforts. The first single from his upcoming album “The Shadow Side” was just recently released and I wanted to give you a quick overview about it until I have the means to do a full album review. For starters this is nothing like we would get from his BVB adventures and is instead a pumping Darkwave sort of tune that has a super catchy chorus to it. Lots of synths and a danceable groove that makes me feel this could be a hit for the musician and one that finds him a completely new audience of ardent admirers. That’s all I have about it in this plain and simple observation of the single track. Continue reading “We Don’t Have To Dance” (Single) by Andy Black→
Andy Biersack is a musician of many talents and for several years he had led the charge as the front man for the dynamic Metal band the Black Veil Brides. He recently completed his first-ever solo album and now it’s time for his worldwide fan to see him in a completely different light under the moniker Andy Black. The album is entitled “The Shadow Side” and will come care of Lava Records on May 6th. The first single “We Don’t Have To Dance” will drop in a couple of days so stay tuned to your favorite streaming service or legal download store for that one. According to Black (who I will be referring to like this in these narratives), the sound on “The Shadow Side” is more akin to a Gothic Springsteen. They are poppy, fun and rocking songs that call back to the 80’s in some sense. I’m paraphrasing his words from some recently read interviews that I am recalling. Joining Black on the tour will be alt-electro duo COLOURS who recently made their debut appearance on multiple Billboard charts with their first full length album “Ivory”. So it is probably worth getting to the shows nice and early for not only a good spot but to see what they are all about as well.
