Exploring NY Comic Con 2017: Day Three (Part 4)

I think by now you know the drill. I keep serving up the coverage from the 2017 NY Comic Con and you keep on enjoying it (well, I hope you do at least). Sorry my friends, as we are now at the final chapter of the Day Three explorations I am starting to feel a sense of “convention burnout”. This will be the last bunch of visuals from the Saturday of the convention so if you haven’t seen the preceding chapters please click on THIS LINK to open everything related to this event on a new page. You don’t have to start reading these from the beginning but I will admit that its a lot more fun when you do it like that. Here we go…..AGAIN 🙂

Exploring NY Comic Con 2016: Day Four, Part One (10/9/2016)

Congratulations readers you have safely arrived at the final batch of posts for the 2016 NY Comic Con. I’ve been doing this sort of post for a couple of weeks in order to make sure I got all of the necessary images to your favorite device. Today begins the Sunday session of NYCC which is the “Family Day” event. That means a whole LOT of little ones are scurrying about so you need to pay attention. If you are just now joining into the proceedings please click on THIS LINK first since it will bring you a rundown of all the chapters that have been posted before this one. I’ll start my visuals with a super team of creatives in Marjorie Liu and Amy Chu. I need to look more into Marjorie’s work as “Monstress” sure sounds interesting. Amy is known to me for her work on the brand new KISS Comic which I have read in previews. They were at the Comixology table signing the trading cards with their faces on them.

Dynamite Entertainment Presents: New “KISS” Monthly Series

Your favorite Rock and Roll superheroes KISS are back in a brand new exciting comic book series that is coming care of Dynamite Entertainment. The byline reads as “KISS is back! Back to the FUTURE in this dark sci-fi adventure. In a world without sun and a world without heroes, four young friends embark on a dangerous mission – to uncover the truth about the mysterious Council of Elders and their underground home, the city of Blackwell. But first they need some help from the past…”

The Official Dynamite Entertainment site had some commentary by writer Amy Chu about the series and I’ve shared that with you below.

“What is the power of KISS? I was having breakfast recently with the fabulous writer Kelly Sue DeConnick. When she found out I was writing this series, it was like firecrackers had been set off in the restaurant, she was so excited. So I’m doing this not just for the hardcore fans (like Kelly Sue) but also the new ones, like her children. It’s a huge challenge for me. KISS is iconic. Legendary. It’s global and cross-generational. So much has been done before with KISS in comics, a LOT of fun and crazy stuff. So for this series, I thought, why not go more serious? For research, I hunkered down and listened to the 1981 album Music from The Elder several times. Like the movie Blade Runner which came out around the same time, people didn’t know what to make of it. If this album came out now, I think it would be entirely different reception. So this storyline is more focused on mythology, heroism, and legend, and inspired by themes, lyrics, and song titles from that album.”

The series hits the stands on 10/19 so be sure to ask your favorite retailer to set some copies aside for you. Below you will find all of the variant covers of the first issue. Knowing how KISS fans collect things, there are going to be some barren shelves in the comic store on the quick side. Check them out.
