Earlier today the press copy went around informing the masses that Arch Enemy’s Angela Gossow was stepping down from the lead vocal role and joining the band in her place would be Alissa White-Gluz formerly of The Agonist. Yeah you read that right. Alissa has left the band that she fronted for about a decade. On behalf of the PiercingMetal brand I wish her well and know that I will see her again soon on tour. So what of The Agonist going forward? Well, the band hit the Internet with new information just immediately afterwards welcoming Vicky Psarakis as their new lead singer. Read on.

“Today we announce that after 3 albums and countless tours we officially part ways with vocalist Alissa White-Gluz. We wish Alissa all the best with Arch Enemy and her future endeavors. It is the beginning of a new and exciting chapter for The Agonist! We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to the The Agonist family. Please give a warm welcome to very talented vocalist Vicky Psarakis!”

Speaking for me I am a little saddened by the shift in the lineup because it was something I was used to as a Metal fan. Of course I am super stoked to see what Alissa will bring to the table in Arch Enemy and since I realize that lineup shifts happen all the time in this rapidly changing musical geography of ours I am excited to see Vicky tearing up the live stages of NYC and the surrounding areas when The Agonist returns to the States. I’ve not yet heard her but will be scouring the YouTube channels with some resolve to see what is going on vocally with Miss Psakaris. Welcome to the band Vicky, I look forward to supporting your efforts as well.
