Finnish Guitar Wizard Alexi Laiho Has Died (1979-2021)

The Press Release:
One of the most renowned guitarists in the world, Alexi Laiho, has passed away. The musician, most notably known as the front man of Children of Bodom, died in his home in Helsinki, Finland, last week. Laiho had suffered from long-term health issues during his last years.

Alexi Laiho and drummer Jaska Raatikainen founded Children of Bodom in 1993, and the band was one of the most internationally acclaimed metal acts in Finland up until their very last farewell concert in December of 2019. Last year Alexi Laiho put together Bodom After Midnight, who recorded three songs and shot one music video, which will be released later on posthumously.

Finland’s Children Of Bodom To Play Final Show With Current Lineup In Helsinki

There is some sad news from the Finnish sensation of a band known as Children Of Bodom…..read down below for the bands official statement on their affairs and future….

Finland’s perhaps best known metal act, Children Of Bodom, will be playing their final show with the current line-up this coming December. ”A Chapter Called Children Of Bodom” will take place at the Black Box in Helsinki Ice hall on December 15th. Below is a statement from the band:

”It is with heavy hearts that we announce that 2019 will be the last for Children Of Bodom with this line-up. After almost 25 years with Bodom, thousands of shows & 10 albums it is time for Henkka, Janne and Jaska to step back and change direction within their lives. All three will miss the fans and supporters in every city in every country the band ever played. The last show of this line-up will be on the 15th of December at Helsinki Ice Hall. Tickets still remain for some of the Finnish shows in December. Alexi And Daniel will have further announcements about their plans to keep creating new music in the future. Thanks again for everything – Children Of Bodom”

Finland’s melodic death superstars CHILDREN OF BODOM will release their tenth album, “Hexed”, on March 8, 2019 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Today, the band is proud to announce their Hexed 2019 North American Tour. The trek will kick off in Quebec City on March 13 and conclude in New York City on April 19th. Supporting the band are Finnish death-doom melody-makers SWALLOW THE SUN and Finnish epic melodic Death Metal quartet WOLFHEART as well as SUMMONER’S CIRCLE (March 13-16 & April 9-19), HOLLOW CRY (March 18-29) and FRAGMENTUM (March 30 April 7) who are opening select shows.

COB frontman, guitarist, and mastermind Alexi Laiho comments, “Hello North America! Just wanna say and empathize the word “finally” … fuckin’ finally we’ll be back on the road – like old school style and over the pond too!! We’ll be in your town just as you’re getting your hands on the new record. Even if you do not have it, don’t worry cause we’re gonna rotate the setlist to include old tracks that will blow your mind back to hell so it’s gonna be a good fuckin’ party ladies and gentlemen. Children Of Bodom Announces “20 Years Down & Dirty” North American Tour

Fans of the Finnish sensations in Children Of Bodom are sure going to love this Fall tour by the band as it celebrates the twentieth anniversary of their debut album “Something Wild” and you can read all about it along with the poster and tour dates down below. I’ll return at the close but you knew that already didn’t you.

Finland’s melodic death superstars CHILDREN OF BODOM are returning to the states this fall for a mind-blowing celebration of 20 years since the debut of Something Wild and the beginning of the Hate Crew.

The 24-date tour will kick off on October 31st in Dallas, Texas with appearances at this year’s Ozzfest Meets Knotfest, 7 Canadian dates before concluding in Montreal on December 1st! Joining the band on the momentous occasion are Dutch masters of horror Carach Angren, Finnish thrashers Lost Society and New Jersey progressive, technical death metallers Uncured.

Alexi comments: “So my friends, after rolling thru Europe doing the 20th year anniversary tour, we were honestly pretty bummed out to find out that we wouldn’t have enough time to bring the tour to America since it was absolutely a blast for both the crowd and the band. But now I’m stoked to announce that as it turns out, we indeed will be able to do this on the other side of the pond so I’m over the top happy about that!! Remember guys, this will be a once in a lifetime experience seeing us playing all kinds of obscure tracks off the first album, stuff from the 2nd & 3rd albums that we ain’t played in over 15 years and the general rule really is that there will not be a single song newer than the Hate Crew Deathroll tracks so it’s all about old school COB! So even if Something Wild isn’t your favorite album, I can guarantee that it will be entertaining, nostalgic and flat out funny as hell to be a part of this madness so that’s one party you just cannot miss! Children Of Bodom Announce “I Worship Chaos” Tour For Fall 2016

As the summer closes up kinda sorta, the tour announcements for the Fall are steadily streaming in and I apologize if I have said this the exact same way in another one of these posts. My time is rather limited today because I am heading out to see one of the final US shows in the storied career of the mighty Black Sabbath. They’re playing the PNC Bank Arts Center tonight and I have noticed that a select amount of tickets are still available for the interested parties. If you are in the vicinity I say go my friends because this really is apparently it. So with that being said, it was super cool to see that COB was heading our way once again and the poster, press release and dates all follow down below. Check it out.

Tour - Children Of Bodom - I Worship Chaos Tour 2016

The Press Release:
Finnish Metal Superstars CHILDREN OF BODOM will embark on a 21-date North American tour with special guests iconic black metal artist ABBATH, California-based metal act EXMORTUS, and Canada’s progressive metallers ONI. The trek presented by The Noise will commence in Quebec on November 23 and will hit 3 Canadian cities as well as Chicago, San Francisco, New York, and conclude in Brooklyn on December 19th. Alexi Laiho comments, “We’re happy to have finally put something cool together for our upcoming US headline tour with Oni, Emortus and the one and only Abbath so I’d say this tour is more than worth checkin’ out! So hope to see you there!”
