BMG Music To Re-Issue “4” 80’s Era Kreator Classics

A little earlier I discussed a re-issue initiative that was being done for several early Celtic Frost albums, and well, now its time to share the news about the works released in the eighties by that seminal German Thrash Metal band Kreator. Read on down below.

The Press Release:
The early discography of one of the all-time great/influential extreme metal bands will be getting an overhaul. On June 9th, the Kreator’s first four classic releases will be reissued via BMG as expanded and remastered editions – 1985’s ‘Endless Pain,’ 1986’s ‘Pleasure to Kill,’ 1987’s ‘Terrible Uncertainty,’ and 1989’s ‘Extreme Aggression’ – available in digital, vinyl, and CD formats.

‘Endless Pain’ was released in October 1985 by Noise Records. It was a savage debut; its crude thrashing quickly had the underground metal world abuzz with excitement. This album has been known to be viewed as a pivotal album to black metal bands that enjoy thrash metal elements, ultimately creating a thrash-influenced black metal sound.

Unleashed in 1986 and still considered the band’s first “classic” album, ‘Pleasure to Kill’ raised the bar with more diversity of tempos and greater attention to technical execution, while losing nothing in terms of ferocity or speed. The band closed out the year with the “Flag of Hate” EP (named after a re-recorded version of their earliest hit), which is included on this version.

Originally released in 1987, ‘Terrible Certainty’ did nothing to dent the perception that Kreator were one of the genre’s best bands, and for once, singer/guitarist Mille Petrozza had a little time to work out the songs beforehand. Kreator beefed up to a quartet once again with the addition of guitarist Jörge Trebziatowski.

The fourth album by Kreator, Extreme Aggression was released in 1989. This album introduced many American fans to Kreator, primarily through heavy rotation of the “Betrayer” music video on MTV’s Headbangers Ball, which was partly shot at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece.

Celtic Frost To Reissue Classic Noise Era Albums In June

As I’ve a day of running around and catch up today, I am just going to let the full on press release do the talking about the soon to be re-issued Celtic Frost albums. Dig in.

Celtic Frost will re-issue of their four seminal Noise Records albums on June 30th 2017, via BMG.

Heroes of the extreme metal scene, there has always been so much more to Celtic Frost’s music. From ‘Morbid Tales’, through ‘To Mega Therion’, onwards to ‘Into The Pandemonium’ and finally ‘Vanity/Nemesis’, this is a band who refused to conform or follow any specific musical direction. They experimented, took risks and in the process have left behind a remarkable catalogue which is timeless and extraordinary. When you hear these albums, you’ll appreciate why succeeding generations of diehard fans and cutting edge bands are so heavily inspired and influenced by Celtic Frost.

It almost seems churlish to regard Celtic Frost as one of the great extreme metal bands, because they were so much more than that. It’s better to hail them as among the finest extreme and experimental bands of the 1980s. Refusing ever to do what was expected or demanded, the band constantly changed musical direction, always brought in surprising influences, and kept people guessing as to where they might venture next. Their catalogue of albums is formidable and unmatched. Each is not only unique, but part of an entire tapestry that only now can be appreciated for being a remarkable part of music history. BMG Releases “3” More Classic Uriah Heep Albums

A few months ago I lined out the details about the extensive reissue program of Uriah Heep seminal works that was being done by BMG Music and before you read this new announcement I suggest that you click through to THIS LINK to know what is going on. Following the expanded and re-mastered re-issues of Uriah Heep’s first 2 albums (and a new 2 disc anthology called, ‘Your Turn To Remember’) follows these double CD sets of 3 classic Heep albums. The band’s 3rd album ‘Look At Yourself’ was originally released in October of 1971 and represented the first for manager Gerry Bron’s new label ‘Bronze Records’ and was also their first to hit the Top 100 of the Billboard Top 200, peaking at #93. The title track is a charging statement of intent as the band don’t let up, with no time to reflect on their success. Such was their hectic schedule at this time they managed to cram touring, session time and 3 albums in the space of 12 months. ’Demons And Wizards’ was released in June 1972 and is widely hailed to be their masterpiece. In the US, the album reached #23 on The Billboard Top 200 and was their first album to be RIAA Certified GOLD. It also features their 2 best known tracks in the states, the Classic Rock Radio staple “The Wizard” and their highest charting single, “Easy Livin’” (#39 Billboard Hot 100). Signs of personal problems and pushy management started to have an effect on the band and the next album, ‘The Magician’s Birthday’ released November 1972, though a quick follow-up the band somehow managed to pull it off with the album hitting #31 on the Billboard Top 200 and was their 2nd consecutive album to be RIAA Certified GOLD.

BMG Music Announce Extensive Uriah Heep Reissue Program Of Seminal Albums

I don’t know about you readers, but I really love the chance to build up my musical library with brand new remasters to replace the super old CD’s or to fill in the blanks in the collection and that makes this announcement from BMG about the legendary Uriah Heep something awesome. BMG are delighted to announce an extensive reissue program commencing in 2016 and continuing through 2017, of the seminal albums by British hard rock legends Uriah Heep, who are one of the big four along with Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath.

Created with the full collaboration of Heep themselves and curated by guitarist and founding member Mick Box, the reissues come as 2CD expanded packages, with the original LPs on CD1 re-mastered by renowned engineer Andy Pearce of Lou Reed and Black Sabbath fame and complete with liner notes by the bestselling rock author Joel McIver. Box and Heep’s sometime member Ken Hensley, composer of many of the band’s best-known songs, contribute to each album’s notes.
