Soilwork’s singer Bjorn “Speed” Strid and drummer Dirk Verbueren will be hanging out at Duff’s Brooklyn to give media and fans alike an inside first listen to their latest album “The Ride Majestic”. This event is 21+ with proper ID and space will be limited so I suggest arriving early to get on line. What better way to indulge in the new sonic sounds of Soilwork than with members of the band in your company. The album comes care of Nuclear Blast Records and in the event that you are too far to attend this happening, you can order a copy of the album via the link to Amazon.com below. Once the event is over you can head to this and be a super powered Metal head http://piercingmetal.com/event/raven-nihil-gallery/

Stream Ghost’s “Meliora” In Full Now
In a few short days, those masters of mystery and Satanic subterfuge Ghost will release their third full length album entitled “Meliora” on Loma Vista Records. It will be the general public of the worlds official first time hearing new singer Papa Emeritus III who replaced PEII a short time ago. Advance tracks and video have been great in my humble opinion and since world domination is not an easy task at all, the Clergy have thus decreed that the loyal flock does not have to wait until Friday to listen to it offerings. The whole album has been posted as a stream on the groups official website and in order to imbue your darkest sensibilities with their brand of sound just click the album cover below and it will begin to play.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Nope, you are not getting any more insight from me on this until I do the full on review but thanks for checking. I’m going to try and have that online ASAP so do please stay tuned because I thought the first video for “Cirice” was awesome (and was discussed on THIS LINK). Ghost is currently on a short acoustic tour to celebrate the new album and additional details can be found on THIS LINK.

Amon Amarth “Twilight Of The Thunder God” CD Listening Media Event (7/31/2008)
Artist: Amon Amarth
Venue: Lit Lounge (New York, NY)
Event: “Twilight Of The Thunder God” CD Listening Event (Media Only)
Date: 7/31/2008
Label: Metal Blade Records
The event came as quite the surprise to me thanks to some email snafu but in the end the message reached me and the warning about the invading Viking hordes of Amon Amarth paying a visit to New York City was able to be prepared for. The Metal Faithful in NYC always love when the group comes to play shows here but tonight this would not be the case and instead I was able to be a part of a secret media cabal that was to convene together for the chance to join the band as they played their upcoming album “Twilight Of The Thunder God”. With haste I made my way to The Lit Lounge which is not too far from the original location of the long closed Fillmore East. The club or bar is set at two levels with the main floor space as a decent sized bar and the basement as a rather congested concert area space. I had only been there once before in 2007 to see both Unexpect and Virgin Black perform and while I loved the bands who were gigging I didn’t like the setting of the venue that particular night. Tonight the gathering would be in the main space and while the party had already started upon my arrival the music had not yet begun to spin. Towards the back I wandered where I saw the esteemed Metal Blade Publicity peeps and the hulking presence of Mr. Johan Hegg, lead singer of the band. If you don’t know what I mean, well, he is a super tall dude to the conventional New Yorker and his appetite for Metal is just as large as he is so it’s always best to approach with candor or at least a full pint of ale for him. He already had a full pint so I smiled and addressed him with a hearty “Hails Johan”, and since the background music was some odd Country and Western tune I decided to break the ice by complimenting the band on the bold new step and direction that they were taking with the album as it was clear to win over all those Redneck Southern Vikings who have been dying to have a Bluegrass twist to their Death Metal.

Whitesnake “Good To Be Bad” CD Listening/Performance @ The Cutting Room (4/10/2008)
This evening’s fun was one of those cool rare opportunities that stick in your memory for years after they happen and this particular one focused on the eighties Metal giants Whitesnake who were presenting their latest CD to a select group of media entities. The new album is called “Good To Be Bad” and comes care of SPV Records which is one of PiercingMetal.com’s favorite providers of Metal content in terms of releases and bands. I had to admit that I felt like a fan boy myself when I learned that singer David Coverdale would be present to meet with us at the intimate setting of The Cutting Room in NYC. This turned to pure euphoria when I learned that joining Coverdale would be guitarist Doug Aldrich and that the pair would entertain us all with new and classic Whitesnake songs. I couldn’t let the legions of Metal heads that read my words feel left out of the event so I present the full scope of the night along with many photos that can be enjoyed by scrolling past the logo below.

The Metal airwaves of the eighties rumbled with their powerful chords and albums such as “Slide It In” and “Whitesnake” forever became cemented into the hearts of Hard Rock and Metal fans around the world. The band which was actually formed back in 1977 by former Deep Purple front man David Coverdale achieved the largest level of notoriety during that decade based on a powerhouse lineup and incredible songs that were radio staples, and had videos that were in constant rotation on MTV. In today’s music world Coverdale fronts a completely new lineup of players and is ready to unleash on the world an incredible piece of music with “Good To Be Bad”. It’s an album that will not only appeal to those who seek the best reminders of their favorite Hard Rock of the past but also one that works well in today’s scene as consistently solid and a reminder about why this band is as loved as it is.

Swedish metal veterans Soilwork held a listening party for their forthcoming release on Nuclear Blast records. The CD, entitled “Stabbing The Drama” was blasted on the speakers of the CBGB’s Lounge this evening and a good metal time was had by all in attendance. From the band, we had guitarist Peter Wichers and several representatives from the Nuclear Blast record label. In addition to the listening and enjoyment of the CD as well as any beers, there was the chance to discuss the bands plans for this release and give them a chance to mingle with many of their media connections. Peter was an interesting and fun dude to kick back with. He has a great sense of humor and is very excited about the coming tour.
